Your Fave Won: Irina Shabayeva Wins “Project Runway!”

Call her what you want: Mean-a-Irina, back-stabber, ungracious loser, but she did it. Irina’s all-black, ultra New York Warrior Woman collection won Project Runway Season Six last night. And that at least makes 46 % of you  Hollywoodlife BFFs happy – you told us in a vote here yesterday, that you wanted her to win!

Runner-up Althea’s “plugged into the street” sci-fi knit sportswear was “cool,” but her strong showing was slightly marred by Irina’s never-ending eye-rolling and snarky claims that they were lifted from Irina’s own designs.

The very ill Carol Hannah created a whimsical and, for this neutral-color-loving group, bright “fairytales and unicorns”-inspired collection. To her credit, she pulled off creating a gorgeous Grecian gown that goddess Heidi Klum totally adored, all while taking frequent bathroom breaks from a bad stomach virus. She really deserved a spirit award.

Many fans have complained about the quality of the designers this season, absent judges, and a general lack of passion compared to past seasons.

That said, the thrill of victory was pretty sweet last night: It made Irina so happy that she even hugged arch-rival Althea. Can’t wait ’til next season, set to air in January 2010! We hope that the show settles into its new network and the judges come back with new vigor.

And despite the behind-the-scenes drama this season, Irina still walked away with 100,000 reasons to think of herself a winner. And she’s right!
