I am a 52 year old dad of 1 adult and 2 teenagers. I did not see the show live but I have seen the videos. While I am disappointed that Adam chose to be so extreme out of the gate before he established his ‘bona fides’ I am not at all put out that his late night performance was so outrageous. He is pushing the envelope just like so many other artists out there. Does the 33 year old dad remember Alice Cooper. Maybe not, since he was probably his kids age at the time but Cooper and David Bowie and Kiss were all denounced in the early to mid ’70s for their androgenous and/or violent stage performances. Artistic aspirations aside, rock stars have always been pushing the envelope: Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, Freddy Mercury, Ozzy Ozbourne, Madonna, Prince, Marilyn Manson, etc… It is a double standard when the outrage is greater for Adam then it is for Madonna & B. Spears to tongue wrestle or endless shows where women are inamorata on stage. Let’s grow up, be good parents and remember that we give our kids the context in which they become shocked, outraged, interested, devoted, or changed by what they see.
