Animal Lovers Alert!

112509_tom_cruise_INFphoto_1124567

Are you one of those women that goes nuts if animals get hurt?

Well, listen to this. The peeps at PETA are seriously concerned about the cruelty in Tom Cruise’s new flick Knight & Day, and maybe you should be too.

In an open letter to the A-lister, the animal rights organization say they’re totally against one scene in his upcoming action-comedy that recreates Pamplona’s infamous Running of the Bulls festival.

“I hope that this finds you and your family well. You can count all of us here at PETA among you many fans,” writes PETA’s Special Projects Manager Michelle Cho, who immediately gets down to business. “We’ve begun to receive phone calls and e-mails from folks alerting us to media reports that some of the bulls used for filming got cut loose and have injured a number of people in Spain,” she writes, adding,  “We are also concerned that this particular scene might glorify the cruel Running of the Bulls event in the film.”

No response from Tommy Boy yet, but the peeps at PETA are definitely amenable to discussing the situation in person. (Wish we had thought of that angle ourselves!)

This article lays bare PETA’s misplaced priorities as well as their kooky alarmism.
“[S]some of the bulls used for filming got cut loose and have injured a number of people”, but this does not concern them.
No. They are “concerned that this particular scene might glorify the cruel Running of the Bulls event” – an event that features bulls running through some streets. THIS is cruelty? Sit yourself down for a second and say “Animals running down the street is cruelty” and then try to stop laughing hysterically.
OK, sometimes they lose their step and slide into things, but really, let’s have some perspective here. Perhaps what happens to the bulls *AFTER* the event may be cruel, but the event itself? PULLEEEZZE!
