Would You Describe the Simpson Sisters as “Failures”?
Joe Simpson did – but he wants the world to know his babies just had one heck of a bad year!
Hey, it happens. We’ve all been there, done that, gotten the T-shirt and written off a year (or two). And that’s exactly what Jessica and Ashlee Simpson are trying to do — sweep their few bad months under the carpet — if only their dad, Joe, would let the world forget their past woes.
“We as a family are under a lot of pressure,” Joe said during Ashlee’s Broadway debut as Roxy Hart in Chicago on Monday, adding that people want to “make us look bad and want us to fail.” He added, “The world always want[s] to make it look like we’re failures but we’re really just a family that works hard.”
Hm. Ashlee’s traded in her Melrose Place zip code for Broadway, has a hot emo husband in Pete Wentz and an adorable one-year-old baby, Bronx. That doesn’t seem like such a failure in our eyes!
As for Jess, she has a new show, The Price of Beauty, and should be loving the single life! New year, Jess? Get rid of old baggage (Tony Romo, namely). See, no problems there.
“Failure” is a defeatist word, Papa Joe. We suggest you strike it from your vocabulary immediately!
