Alexa Ray Joel Hospitalized After Drug Overdose!
Was it a possible suicide attempt? We hope not!
Alexa Ray Joel, the 23-year-old daughter of singer Billy Joel and model Christie Brinkley, is currently recovering at St. Vincent’s Hospital in NYC after a reported drug overdose, Radar Online is reporting. Paramedics were called to Alexa’s New York apartment at 12:19 p.m. on Dec. 5 by Alexa’s roommate, who told the dispatcher that Alexa had “taken pills.” When they arrived, the paramedics say they found Alexa having trouble breathing. According to Pop Crunch, Alexa’s roommate also told paramedics that she has “been depressed after recently breaking up with a boyfriend and ultimately took too many pills.”
Several sources tell Radar Online that her parents’ issues are what drove her to take desperate action. Mom Christie recently went through a highly publicized divorce from husband Peter Cook, while dad Billy also recently split from his wife, Katie Lee Joel.
Stay strong, Alexa! If you feel like your parents’ problems are making your life difficult, talk to them, or seek professional counseling. Even when things get tough, suicide is never the answer!
