Tiger Woods, Who Will You Give Your Mea Culpa To First?
Tiger Woods is bound to tell one of the major networks his side of the story at some point — and we want to know who he’ll tell first! Will it be Diane Sawyer, Matt Lauer, Lesley Stahl, or Katie Couric?
Those are the couches celebrities sit on when they have a confession to make, and the networks, ABC, NBC, and CBS always claw at each other over the first interview. We’re sure the Tiger’s confession will be no different!
Let’s just take a look back at other famous Mea Culpas, and which famous TV host’s celebrities opened up to.
Matt Lauer on Today Show:
Who could forget Britney Spears‘ tearful interview in June? After she almost lost custody of her kids, she told Matt Lauer that she is a good mommy to Sean Preston, 4 and Jayden 3! Even reality show mommy Kate Gosselin confessed all on air, giving an emotional interview on the Today show in August.
Diane Sawyer on ABC’s Primetime:
Diane always gets the BEST confessions! Nicole Richie appeared in a dramtic interview with her on 20/20 in 2007 with hubby Joel Madden, where she defend rumors of an eating disorder and explained that she was totally over her partying ways. Ashley Dupre also gave her side of the story to Diane in Nov. 2008, after she became infamous as “Eliot Spitzer‘s hooker.” And Mel Gibson retracted his anti-Semitic statements to Diane in 2006. Diane is known for being tough, but sympathetic, so Tiger may turn to her for a gentle ear.
Katie Couric on CBS Evening News:
Tiger already works closely with CBS, who has a contract with the PGA until 2012, so some insiders think he will turn to that network. But he could make the mistake if he thinks Katie Couric is a softball interview! Remember when she interviewed Sarah Palin and the Vice Presidential candidate said she could see Russia from her house?
Lesley Stahl on 60 Minutes
Who can forget Leslie Stahl‘s interview in Oct. 2007, when the President of France, Nicolas Sarkozy, got up and walked out of the interview — all because she asked him about his marital issues! Sounds like Tiger may want to think twice before getting into this hot seat.
