All the details on Brittany’s sudden and tragic passing

Brittany Murphy died at 10:04 a.m. this morning, according to a spokesperson from the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. The Los Angeles Fire Department received and responded to a call at 8 a.m. from the home of Brittany’s husband, screenwriter Simon Monjack.

Los Angeles police officer Norma Eisenman says a full investigation is being launched to determine the cause of Brittany’s death, and investigators have already been sent to the actress’ West Hollywood home.

TMZ reports that Brittany was found unconscious in the shower by her mother, Sharon Murphy. Paramedics arrived and administered CPR as soon as it was that determined Brittany was in full cardiac arrest. She was then taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

In a statement, Brittany’s rep tells HollywoodLife.com: “In this time of sadness, the family thanks you for your love and support. It is their wish that you respect their privacy.”
