Breaking! L.A. County Coroner Reports a Shocking Amount of Prescription Meds at Brittany Murphy’s House
Could a cocktail of prescription medications have caused Brittany’s death?
An investigator’s report from the L.A. County Coroner’s office revealed a shocking account of Brittany Murphy’s last moments – and the unnatural amount of prescription drugs found at her house.
Brittany “had been complaining of shortness of breath and severe abdominal pain” for 7 to 10 days before her death, reports TMZ, but attributed the pain to menstrual cramps. According to the notes, from LA Investigator Blacklock, Brittany went into the bathroom on Sunday morning, shut the door and never came out. An hour later, her mother, Sharon, went to check on her and “discovered the decedent lying on the floor unresponsive.” Brittany’s husband, Simon Monjack, heard her mother’s screams, went to help and called 911. By the time the paramedics had arrived, Brittany was “without signs of life.”
Found on the scene, as per the Coroner’s report, were an unnatural amount of prescription meds in Brittany’s name, as well as many empty bottles in Simon’s, Sharon’s and unidentified names.
The medications included: Topamax (anti-seizure meds also to prevent migraines), Methylprednisolone (anti-inflammatory), Fluoxetine (depression med), Klonopin (anxiety med), Carbamazepine (treats Diabetic symptoms and is also a bipolar med), Ativan (anxiety med), Vicoprofen (pain reliever), Propranolol (hypertension, used to prevent heart attacks), Biaxin (antibiotic), Hydrocodone (pain med) and various vitamins. No alcohol containers or drugs were found.
Could Brittany’s death have been prevented?

flmom – I know full well what Tegretol is. It is PRIMARILY a seizure medication It may be used for diabetic NEUROPATHY, or similar nerve pain such as trigeminal neuralgia. It also has psych uses for bipolar. It is not a drug to treat diabetes.
And you totally missed the point. THEY should have fact checked the article before they published it. Yes, of course hydrocodone can be addictive and often is; however, this picture of drugs is not one of a big drug abuser like they found w/MJ or Anna Nicole.
Say what you want about me “spouting my mouth off”. I guarantee that I know more about these meds and what they are used for than the author.

kaylowe – just as an FYI, you need to check your facts again. Carbamazepine can be used to treat nerve pain caused by neuropathy in diabetics. Also, hydrcodone and vicoprofen can be very addictive. There may not have been an abuse problem here but before you spout off at the mouth about what a drug is and isn’t, do some thorough research.

How ridiculous this article is. So misinformed! Carbamepazine is not a diabetic drug; it is used for seizure disorder and for treatment of bipolar. Klonopin and ativan can also be used for seizure control as well as anxiety. Propanolol is a heart drug that is also used off-label to treat “stage fright”; it is not psychoactive and does not give anyone a “high”. Hydrcodone and vicoprofen (which is hydrocodone w/ibuprofen) is pretty mild pain med that could be used for anything. This is not big “drug abuse” thing.
But of course, you can sure make it out to be. You lost credibility w/me when you labeled carbamazepine as a diabetic drug. A simple google search would have steered you to the correct use.

That is soo Sad First MIchael and now Brittny There is Something Wrong here why didnt any one get her help if Drugs where the case she look like she had familly that loved her.

Pharmaceutical industry is a giant fraud
The pharmaceutical industry, as operated today, is based almost entirely on scientific fraud, bribery of doctors, misleading advertising and corrupt regulatory agencies like the FDA. Most prescription medications simply don’t help most people. They only mask symptoms while ignoring the underlying causes of disease.
Nearly all pharmaceuticals are sold with the Big Lie… the implied (but false) promise that “These drugs will make you healthier.” That’s why drug ads always show happy, healthy people popping their pills. (Well, technically they never even show them popping the pills. They just show them doing yoga, hiking in the woods, or whatever looks good.)
I can’t think of a single pharmaceutical that actually makes you healthier. Almost universally, prescription medications cause long-term damage to the heart, liver, kidneys and nervous system. Over time, they erode your health, accelerate your apparent aging and promote chronic degenerative disease.

When oh when will Hollywood and the rest of the country (so many unnamed) understand the lethal consequences of overdosing on drugs? Even if her deaht isn’t attributed to (which I doubt) an overdose that has to be a lethal combination in there somewhere. Stop blaming doctors and start looking in the mirror. Drug abuse is a growing problem in this country. I would think a person would seek help instead of continuing down this dangerous and deadly path. Some people just don’t learn.
