One of his exes may factor into the current investigation!

An interesting new report from the UK’s Daily Mail offers insight into the shady history of Brittany Murphy‘s husband, Simon Monjack. He’s reportedly had quite a few romances end in heartbreak, and according to sources, one of them may be interviewed as part of the investigation into Brittany’s death! “I know I have been called a conman,” he says. “I am not perfect. I never said I was. But there has been so much rubbish written about me and Brittany. Most of what you read is made up.”

According to the Daily Mail, one of Simon’s previous girlfriends — who happened to come from a wealthy London family — lost out big time when she invested in one of his “projects.” A friend of the girl tells the paper that she’s still fragile after the experience. “We’re all just relieved he’s out of her life,” the friend says. “When I heard he had married Brittany Murphy a few years ago I thought: Poor, poor Brittany.”

But it’s his other former flame, Simone Bienne, who is of interest now. Simon and Simone were married in Las Vegas in Nov. 2001, according to the Daily Mail — just three months after meeting! But the quickie marriage didn’t last long. The couple split up only five months after marrying, in April 2002. A friend says Simone “suffered years of hell” with Simon, including the lengthy time it took him to fork over the $30,000 he owed her in the divorce settlement.

Sources tell the Daily Mail that investigators from the LA County Coroner’s Department plan to interview Simone to get a better idea of Simon’s character. What we do know is that he was born in Hillingdon, London, to a mother who owned her own interior designed business and a father who worked in business in the city. A brain tumor killed Simon’s father 15 years ago, and his mother has since found a new love. Simon apparently began several of his own successful film production companies in London, but they have all since shut down.

He also defends Brittany to the UK paper, saying that she wasn’t fired from her movie, and if she was really an addict, she wouldn’t have left all of those prescription drugs out in the open for anyone to find. “Some of them were old and date back to when Brittany had some ailment or other,” he says. “You know how people accumulate things and never throw them away.”
