She tells us how we can help our troops and our nation!

Michelle Obama joined President Obama for the first time Dec. 24 on his weekly address to the nation, extending her warmest wishes and extreme gratitude to our troops fighting overseas. But she also told all of us how we can help out and get involved from home. “If you live near a military base, you can reach out through your workplaces, your schools, your churches,” Michelle said in her address. “There are so many ways to help — with child care, with errands, or by just bringing over a home-cooked meal.” Read more

Who Were the Most Charitable Celebs of 2009?

OK, so you can’t be quite as giving as your favorite stars…they donate dollars by the millions!

We at HollywoodLife.com are glad to see that celebrities are using their mega bucks for good causes! We’re especially in awe of talk show queens Oprah Winfrey and Ellen DeGeneres, who both, respectively, donated $1.5 million each this year. Madame O donated her dosh to Atlanta, GA inner city school The Ron Clark Academy; she also gave the kids an additional $350,000 in 2008. Her moolah will be used to expand the school’s campus by building a gym, cafeteria and theatre. Ellen also helped out children by raising money for Toys for Tots on her show. Read more

The 15-year-old actor told HollywoodLife EXCLUSIVELY that he has been spending his year “focusing on getting good grades and trying to getting into college.” He even told us, “I have high hopes. I want to go to Northwestern University to study journalism.” Maybe one day he’ll be the editor of fashion magazine like Vanessa Williams at Mode! The University, based in Evanston, IL, is one of the toughest journalism programs in the country, so we hope you’re studying hard, Mark!
