Don’t let R-Patz’s messy hair and five o’clock shadow fool you — the Twilight heartthrob isn’t as much of a dirtball as you all think he is!

He may look like he smells, um, not-so-fresh, but Robert Pattinson, 23, really does go to great lengths for his hygiene. Just ask his someone who’s spent a lot of time with him recently: his Eclipse co-star Bryce Dallas Howard. “He’s incredibly hygienic,” the actress, 28, who replaces Rachelle Lefevre as villain Victoria in the Twilight series’ third film, told New York magazine on Dec. 10. With all the talk about someone else’s birthday (cough, Tiger Woods, cough) we didn’t want you to forget that the dynamic duo Today Show duo of Matt Lauer and Meredith Vieira share something besides a couch: it’s their birthday, too! Meredith turned 56, Matt is 52. Since Meredith requested the day off today, Dec. 30 (smart move, Mer!) she didn’t get to join in the on-air celebrations, but she did phone in from home when actor Abe Vigoda wheeled out a cake. Actor Charlie Sheen and his wife Brooke Mueller stand to lose their 9-month old sons if they don’t clean up their act—and fast. As HollywoodLife.com first reported on Dec. 29, Charlie and Brooke are under investigation by the Los Angeles County’s Department of Children and Family Services after their a domestic dispute early Christmas morning. If they don’t enroll in stricter recovery programs, there’s a very real danger that their sons, Max and Bob will be taken away from them, says defense attorney Steve Cron, who represents parents that have been accused by the DCFS for making irresponsible guardians. PETA Crowns Ellen DeGeneres and Tim Gunn 'People of the Year'

Ellen and Tim both “make it work” when it comes to promoting animal rights

It’s a dog eat dog world out there. Ellen DeGeneres and Tim Gunn realize this better than anyone, though, which is why animal rights organization PETA has honored them as “Woman and Man of the Year.” In addition to having major puppy love, Ellen is being honored for her meat-free diet. She explained her decision to go vegan on her official Web site when she said, “I personally chose to go vegan because I educated myself on factory farming and cruelty to animals, and I suddenly realized that what was on my plate were living things, with feelings.” Read more
