EXCLUSIVE: Nina Garcia Talks ‘Project Runway,’ NYC, And The Season Seven Cast!
Are you gearing up for the new season of Project Runway on Lifetime? Nina Garcia is! The Marie Claire Fashion Director and Project Runway judge spoke EXCLUSIVELY to HollywoodLife.com about the upcoming season of the show, which launches Jan. 14!
Nina says she’s thrilled the show is coming back to film in NYC, after one season of filming in L.A. ”It’s back to Parsons (The New School for Design) back to NYC, back to regular judges.”
Nina tells us what we can expect for the designing hopefuls on Season 7! “It’s a strong group of designers. A nice strong group,” she says. ”This group is very professional very focused, very motivated.”
For the fashion editor and icon, the hardest part about being a judge is giving contestants criticism. ”I don’t want to discourage anybody from their dreams … so that is difficult. I am frank, I am … but I realize it is their dreams and I don’t want to discourage it”
One way Nina does encourage the former contestants is by keeping in touch with them … even the ones who didn’t make it the final rounds! “I always love when former cast members reach out,” she tells us.
The influential fashionista always has an opinion on trends, so we asked her which looks she would like to see less of? ”Angry shoes should go away — the big spikes. I’m looking forward to beautiful feminine shoes! I own [angry shoes] but that is a trend I wish we would move on from.”
But there is one trend celebs are rocking that Nina loves … so pay attention designers!
