‘Life Unexpected’ Star Shiri Appleby: ‘My On-Screen Daughter Is My Real Life Roommate!’

Who knew? Shiri says that living with her teenaged TV daughter has made her want to be more of a grown-up than ever

On CW’s new Gilmore Girls-meets-Juno-esque drama, Life Unexpected star Shiri Appleby plays a mom meeting the long-lost daughter she gave us for adoption as a teenager. Only the daughter, Lux, is now 15 with a mind of her own. Shenanigans ensue, and makes for some pretty gripping TV.

In reality, Shiri, 31, and 19-year-old Brittany Robinson, who plays her daughter Lux, are actually roomies! Can you believe it? In fact, Shiri actually credits Brit for making her become an actual adult.

“She’s so sweet and so responsible. I just have so much respect for her,” Shiri says of her new bestie in the video, above, from the Vancouver set of their show.

Isn’t it great to know these two can have two such close kinds of relationships, on-set and off? We’re glad the ladies love one another so much – because real affection makes for some genuine, immensely watchable emotion on-screen.

If you haven’t had the chance to check out Life Unexpected yet, then you must – and soon! Be sure to catch it on Monday at 9 PM/8c on the CW.
