The sparks are really flying on the HollywoodLife.com comment boards! Who knew Katy Perry‘s guest judge appearance on American Idol would get everyone so riled up? Although my post ticked off one reader (yes, I heard you, Obgyn), the majority of you HollywoodLifers agree with me … the girl-kissing (and liking it) pop star was a total wench during the LA auditions.
“Katy Perry is a pretentious, pink cow,” Lola aptly commented. “Why was she so cruel to all those contestants? It’s not like she’s some major talent. Here’s her new epithet: Katy Perry, Destroyer of Dreams.”
LOL.
When Obgyn argued that judges on Idol are only effective if they are tough, like Simon Cowell, Joe2 lashed back, “To be a good judge and/or a qualified judge one does not need to be mean and nasty. Simon gets away with it because he’s Simon and everyone enjoys watching him.”
Touché — I couldn’t agree more.
And finally, Obgyn, thank you for introducing me to the Yiddish word “schlemiel,” which the dictionary tells me means “a habitual bungler” — aka “an idiot.” As angelfire pointed out, I did earn a Master’s Degree (thanks, BTW) — but this random post wasn’t meant to be my thesis, or even something for the books. I was just having fun.
Simply put, I dissed a girl and I liked it.

Oh my gosh, Kirstin. Thank you for responding to all of the madness on the board for your post on Katy Perry. It seems as though some people don’t understand the concept of having a little fun!
P.S. I love feeling like us habitual hollywoodlifers have some interaction with the site staff. You guys obviously know what we want so, keep it coming!
