How would you feel if you were nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress?

If you’re Penelope Cruz,  who starred as burlesque dancer Carla in Nine you’re not surprisingly “completely surprised and elated. Rob Marshall is not only a genius but an absolute joy to work with, ” she said about the honor. “I woke up every morning excited to collaborate with this amazingly talented group of actors. Filming this movie was such a special experience and to be nominated for this role makes me so happy.”

Penelope was the only cast member from Nine to receive an Oscar nod.

She won in 2009 for Best Supporting Actress for Woody Allen’s Vickie Christina Barcelona , and was nominated in 2006 for Best Actress for her turn in Pedro Almodovar’s Volver.

Yay Penelope, we’re so happy for you! Good luck!
