Do you agree with the latest Loser to leave the ranch? He adamantly maintains that weight loss will come from a lifestyle change, not a crash diet.
Biggest Loser contestant John Crutchfield has some pretty controversial words for someone who’s appearing on a weight loss reality show. Says the Biggest Loser: Couples castoff: “Anything with the word diet in it doesn’t work.”
Come again, sir? Presumably dieting is a required part of the whole weight-loss journey thing.
“It’s just a joke,” the 30-year-old senior marketing manager explained exclusively to HollywoodLife.com. “Cutting out something completely – it will work short term, but it’s not a life style.”
John – who has lost 100 pounds since July – speaks from first-hand experience. Before competing on The Biggest Loser, the Orlando native had cut out carbs completely from his diet and dropped 160 pounds — and then gained 200 back. He started the show at 484 pounds.
Since getting the boot from the ranch, John’s excelled at dropping even more poundage at home. His secret? Working out in the morning for an hour before work with his co-workers (“for me, it’s about a routine”) and supplementing old food favorites with healthier options (goodbye, butter! hello, SmartBalance!).
What are YOUR healthy lifestyle secrets?

I LOVE John! He is such a sweet guy, and you can see during his elimination scene that the other contestants loved him too. I am so sad that he has left the show, but I hope that he reaches his goal weight at home. I agree with him completely that you have to commit to a complete lifestyle change; just going on a diet or eliminating one thing that you eat will not work. In my experience, if you stop eating one thing you love entirely, you will eventually feel like you are depriving yourself, you will cave, and gain back the weight you lost. I am proud of John and I wish him luck at home!!
