Could This Be The Final Season Of ‘Mad Men?’ January Jones Says Yes!

Would you be bummed if Mad Men ended early?

Mad Men may have just picked up its third consecutive Golden Globe for Best Television Series – Drama, but according to star January Jones the show could only be eligible for one more year. “It may be the last one,” January tells British magazine Stella about the show’s fourth season which begins shooting in April. “I’m a firm believer in quitting while it’s hot. Besides, it can’t go on forever. I don’t want to see [my character] Betty in Spandex in the 1980s.”

Ready for another shocker? In the interview, January admits she doesn’t enjoy playing Jon Hamm‘s wife, Betty Draper! She tells Stella that she turns down “sad wife” roles she’s offered between Mad Men seasons because she already plays that type of character on the show. “I’m sad for five months out of the year when I play Betty,” she says. “I don’t want to be sad at any other time.”

If we’re speaking frankly here, we highly doubt Mad Men will end after just four years. The show is a huge hit with critics and AMC would never let it die so soon. January’s character, however, is not as invincible. If she’s tired of playing a sad character, there are always ways of getting rid of Betty.

I agree. I don’t watch it for Betty anyway so I don’t mind if they get rid of her. I don’t hate her, I just won’t miss her.
