Kara DioGuardi on Ellen DeGeneres’s First Night on ‘American Idol’: ‘She Did Great!’
Kara is definitely fan of the newest Idol judge…but are you?
We’ve all been waiting with bated breath to see how American Idol’s newest judge, Ellen DeGeneres, would do filling Paula Abdul’s recently vacated stilettos. Although the jury may still be out for many of you, at least fellow judge Kara DioGuardi is supporting the talk show host!
“I think she did great,” Kara, 39, told reporters Feb. 10 of Ellen’s Feb. 9 debut, adding, “[She] brings a sense of humor and knows more about music than you think.”
No one knows better than Kara just how nerve-wracking it is to be the new girl (she did come in late to the game last year after the show had been in existence for seven prior seasons, after all) but she likes how the group meshes so far. “I think the dynamic will make such an exciting season and you dont know what’s going to happen,” she says.
But with Paula gone, is Ellen an effective replacement for the former Idol judge? “She’s critical, and gave good feedback that’s constructive,” Kara said, adding, “I thought she had a really good handle on whether contestants had potential. She knew if something was off, and I thought she delivered the message with kindness.”
And about those rumors that Ellen and Simon Cowell are already not seeing eye to eye? Kara advises everyone to avoid buying into the drama..”[Rumors] are usually not true. Last year it was [me] and Paula. These things are just ridiculous, and we are there for one thing: to find the greatest American Idol winner. I know Ellen and Simon take that very seriously.”

I agree with Kara I absolutely love Eleen I think shes great and the fact that she brings a nice sense of humor to deliver her thoughts on the contestants performances is brilliant. I am a big fan of Ellens, but I can see past my opinion of her comedian and talk show status. I truly believe there isn’t anything she can not do. Ellen just seems to have this natural presence about her that people just embrace. She has what it takes to be a great judge on American Idol. I look forward to watching American Idol even more so. I hope I get the pleasure of meeting her one day. You GO! Ellen Do Your Thing!!!
