US Speedskater Apolo Anton Ohno Took Home Bronze Last Night! It’s His Eighth Medal!
Even with a disqualification, Apolo had a heck of a night!
US speedskater Apolo Anton Ohno, 27, already set the world record for most Olympic medals won by a US athlete in the winter games, but he took that record even further Feb. 26 by winning one more! Apolo took home the bronze medal in the men’s 5,000-meter relay race, bringing his incredible Olympic medal total to eight. But his Olympic journey wasn’t without some misfortune. Earlier in the evening, Apolo was disqualified from the 500-meter men’s speedskating final competition for allegedly touching the hip of Canadian skater Francois-Louis Tremblay and knocking him into the wall during an intense turn.
