EXCLUSIVE! Former ‘Idol’ Blake Lewis: ‘Didi Benami Was By Far My Favorite Performance!’
Season six American Idol runner-up Blake Lewis blogs for HollywoodLife.com about the top 8 girls — do you agree with him that Didi Benami had the strongest performance of the season?!
Highlight Uno — I thought the opening with Ellen rubbing up on Simon was a little racy for prime time television, yet liked it cause Ellen is trying to get Simon out of his v-cut box he lives in. hehe
Highlight 2 — Didi Benami!! By far my favorite performance on American Idol this year. She came out singing ‘Rhiannon’ by Fleetwood Mac with her acoustic guitar and it just made everyone before her pale in comparison. Talented, beautiful and what a sweet tone to her voice.
Highlight 3 — The judges ripped into everyone on this show. I couldn’t believe it. They were relentless. I loved it!
Highlight Four — Siobahn Magnus sang ‘House Of The Rising Sun’ by The Animals. Growing up with this song, I’ve heard it a thousand times, but Siobahn really brought some depth to it by starting it out a cappella. Very nice. She is definitely the dark horse of the competition, which always makes me want to watch more.
Lowlight — Paige Miles, whom I had high hopes for, performed a really bad arrangement of ‘Smile,’ by Charlie Chaplin. I have loved this song since I could remember and this arrangement made me shut the TV off. I like Paige, but this song choice was not a good look.
What did you guys think of last night?

Great blog, Blake! Love reading your thoughts on the show each week. I don’t think I loved Didi’s performance as much as you did, but it was definitely one of the best last night. The two highlights of the show for me came from Siobhan and Crystal. These girls, along with Lilly, have been impressing me each week. It’s still way early to guess how anything will shake out, but I would love if Crystal and Siobhan were the last two standing.
