You probably know Ted Gibson as the makeover guru from TLC’s What Not To Wear or as the hands behind the hair of celebs like Ashley Greene and Kate Gosselin. I know Ted as the man who said I have the same bone structure as Jennifer Lopez. Needless to say his blatant lie made my week. Ok, my year. Although Ted couldn’t completely transform me into Jennifer, he was able to give me a perfect replica of Jennifer’s simple, yet totally chic messy bun. I couldn’t have been happier with my new ‘do! To add volume and texture to my fine hair, Ted started by saturating my strands with Hairsheet Styling. Then, he blow dried two inch sections while twirling it with his fingers to build up texture. Instead of backcombing to add volume, Ted used his fingers to gently “back finger” the crown area. Using a bungee elastic, he pulled my hair into a high pony and blasted it with Beautiful Hold Hairspray for even more texture. To make an even bigger bun, he rolled the pony onto itself and secured with ridged hairpins. Voila! It really didn’t take that long to do and I was even able to recreate it the next day myself and so can you! – Marta Topran
