Some of our favorite women showed up for the major event!

Katie Couric, Mariska Hargitay and Barbara Walters were among the 300 ladies invited to the Women in the World summit this weekend at New York’s Hudson Theatre. Organized by The Daily Beast editor-in-chief Tina Brown, along with Diane von Furstenberg, the Vital Voices Global Partnership and the UN Foundation, the summit brought together some of the world’s most inspirational female leaders. In a powerful speech, Hillary Clinton address the crowd, saying, “It’s not just that women’s rights are human rights, but women’s progress is human progress.”

Other celebs at the event included Diane Sawyer, Tory Burch, Vivian Tam, Donna Karan, Nora Ephron and Candice Bushnell. Chelsea Clinton was also at the event, and she wowed attendees in a dress from Oscar de la Renta’s Fall 2008 collection.

Summit attendees were also lucky enough to catch Meryl Streep in an exclusive reading of the documentary play SEVEN, directed by Julie Taymor. The play is made up of courageous and inspiring stories told by strong women from different parts of the world.

The event was sponsored by Technology Innovation Partner HP; Exxon Mobil; Bank of America; and Goldman Sachs’ 10,000 Women.
