What could be more exciting than having your first child? Mario is over the moon about becoming a dad!

Mario Lopez wants girlfriend Courtney Mazza to pop out their first child like, right now. He just can’t wait to be a dad! “I am so excited dude, I’m fired up!” the 36-year-old Extra host said on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show March 15, adding, “I’m like a little kid waiting for Christmas!”

But it sounds like the new baby (Mario doesn’t want to know if his newborn will be a boy or a girl until it literally pops out) may have some stiff competition for daddy’s love. Mario is totally obsessed with his French Bulldog, Julio Cesar Chavez Lopez! He told Ryan, “I love my dog! If my baby turns out half as cool as my little dog, then we’re set!”

Um, shouldn’t be too hard, right? Woof, woof.

Part of the reason Mario is so highly anticipating his new baby is that he’s just a TAD behind schedule (in his family’s eyes, at least). “This is really late for me,” he said. “In Mexican years I should have three to four kids right now! My family was like ‘About time!’ when I told them!”

Three to four? We wonder how many kids Mario and Courtney, 31, actually plan on having! What we do know: they’ll sure have a great time trying for more!
