Hooray! Angelina Jolie Opens a School For Girls in Afghanistan!
Angelina Jolie never stops trying to make the world a better place! She has brought joy to the country of Afghanistan by building a school for young girls.
Angelina Jolie‘s generosity grows by the day. The actress and United Nations Goodwill Ambassador donated $75,000 to Tangi, Afghanistan in order for the province to build a school for 800 girls. The school opened Mar. 15 and it boasts eight classrooms, four administrative buildings, a well, and eight bathrooms. Angelina works fast — she was just in Tangi 18 months ago and now she’s built a school!
Most of the girls did not want to attend the school built by UNICEF two years ago because there were boys also at the school. But with this new school the community is beyond thrilled. “Angelina Jolie’s gift was very important because it was ensuring a brighter future for many girls in Tangi,” says Iqbal Azizi, head of the provincial education department. ”Who otherwise would have been deprived of education in the absence of a primary school building.”
A local 14-year-old who dropped out of the previous school explains that the initial location did not have enough room. “The school we are presently studying in does not have enough classrooms … six of our classes are studying in tents.” says Hakima. “Because of the cultural constraints and security concerns, I had decided not to continue.”
In a community where only two girls attend high school a local father believes this new all girls school is a step in the right direction. “This is what we needed here,” says Ustad. “And I believe there is a need for every community if we want to build the future of our country – to build schools and get education.”

I agree, why are people always trying to connect her to Jen? It’s like comparing everything a woman does in life to her husband’s ex-wife. If you did that in real life you’d be called a moron. She is doing charity work for God’s sake, that too for children. It is much more important than any movie promotion. U r an idiot to compare the two.

The comment about Jen is so stupid!!! Jen is promoting a movie every year, should Angie stop all charity work for sake of a movie??? Wow, your priorities are really messed up. Why do u think Angie’s charity work has anything to do with Jen’s movies? There is no connenction at all. I am sure Angie will still be doing charity work when Jen becomes too old to even star in movies. Why not let both women do what they find improtant in life? Opening a school for girls is much much more important in the long run than any one movie promotion will ever be.
