Booty Ahoy! Jennifer Lopez Is About To Set Sail In ‘Overboard’ Remake
Do you think J. Lo is going to be able to fill Goldie Hawn’s boat shoes in the revamped version of her ’80s classic?
Woman overboard! Jennifer Lopez is going to have to seriously practice that particular distress call as she’s in talks to remake Goldie Hawn’s role in 1987’s Overboard, says the Hollywood Reporter.
The original film – which also co-starred Goldie’s life partner Kurt Russell – centers on a rich and spoiled prima donna who falls off a yacht and can’t remember her identity upon waking. Kurt’s struggling carpenter saves the day – but (because of his loose morals) decides to convince the amnesia-addled Goldie that she’s his wife in order to provide his four sons with a maid-like figure. It’s a blast – and incidentally – one of Hollywoodlife.com editor-in-chief Bonnie Fuller’s favorite movies. (She’s seen it no less than 500 times, she swears!)
This new, updated version is being produced by Will Smith and Overbrook for Columbia Pictures
We don’t think this movie would be a stretch for Jennifer, 40. We already know how great she looks in nautical-wear!

I LOVE “Overboard” especially since I worked on it!!!!!
I was Tofutti Klein, Grant’s girlfriend who is drinking champagne on the yacht with Ed Herman & Roddy McDowell.
I vote for a leading role for Tofutti!!!!

NOOOO! This movie is such a classic. They can’t remake it nor can J. Lo replace Goldie. Bad idea.

I loved, loved, loved Overboard with Kurt & Goldie. Although, J. Lo already has the diva bit down I have no interest in seeing Hollywood ruin another great movie by what they think is a “fresh, new approach”.

What’s with all the remakes? Can’t hollywood come up with something new? I bet this remakes bombs and puts the final nail in the lopez’s career coffin. Maybe JLo should go for supporting “character” roles – it’s been 10 years since she could carry a movie.
