Who knew you could drink a beer while breast feeding? Apparently, it’s good idea!
Mommy myths can be scary, but here’s one that actually works! If you’re breast feeding, Ugly Betty‘s Ana Ortiz recommends that you drink a Guinness — and experts agree! “Personally, that helped me relax and chill out and it was good for the milk,” Ana, who had her first daughter Paloma Louise on June 27, 2009, told HollywoodLife.com exclusively at the 2010 Verizon NFL Draft Eve Event at restaurant Abe & Arthur’s in NYC on Apr. 21. “A Guinness really worked” with helping to produce milk.
“It is widely known that Guinness can help a mom relax and produce a little more breast milk in the evening or the afternoon,” confirms Tamara Hawkins, RN & lactation consultant in NYC.
“Guinness has brewers yeast and hops — it’s a nourishing substance,” Tamara says. “We give it to moms to increase the hormones and help increase milk supply. It’s an Irish tradition that’s been brought into the states.”
Tamara suggests that a mom “drink it with lunch. She should not drink it every day, because it won’t be a miracle worker, but it may give her more supply. I would say, enjoy it three times a week. If she feels she has problem with her milk supply, she should see a lactation consultant.”
Wow! Who would have thought a beer would be good for a mommy?

Prenatal exposure laws contradict this advertisement and I wouldn’t be drinking pregnant-this advertisement is an old myth. The blood brain barrier for the infant is a greater consideration than being relaxed. Learn a new way to relax because jail is not the way to go!
