It’s down to the final three on American Idol — and Top 24 contestant Alex Lambert knows EXACTLY who he wants to win: the pride of Illinois, Lee DeWyze! Alex gave us his top pick May 13 at HollywoodLife.com‘s Young Hollywood Awards at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre in Los Angeles. He also spilled the beans on who he’s NOT rooting for: soulful siren Crystal Bowersox!
Alex came right out and said he doesn’t want to hear an album of Janis Joplin songs. Ouch!

alex lambert is a twit, and should keep his bitter mouth shut. lee dewyze is an embarrassment to all the really talented male idols who have come from idol. he is off key 99 percent of the time, in every song, looks so stiff and wooden on stage, lacking in anything resembling performance skills. have lost all respect for idol, especially simon cowell for praising him in the face of some horrible performances.
i’m not a fan of either crystal or casey either – both are a cut below what long time idol viewers are used to seeing in the contestants at this point. so sick of white guys with guitars getting the favor on this show – really sick of idol being the whitest show on tv – if they were relevant, and really looking for a star to go from idol onto the current music scene and meet success, none of the contestants resemble any of the biggies that currently rule top 40. the season stinks, and none of these three, imo, are going to meet with the success expected of idol finalists.

I don’t like Lee or Crystal much, but, honestly, Alex is good friends with Lee and I’m sure that’s why he said it. As for the Crystal thing, I’m sure it was taken out of context. Also, Alex is really new to the media thing and I don’t think he quite gets that journalists will try to spin a story out of anything slightly controversial that you say. He needs guidance :)

Yes, Alex has been very supportive of Lee winning American Idol for weeks now. They are good friends, but I would rather doubt he would dissed Crystal in that way. There is no video and audio of his conversation. Alex is making incredible music now in the “If I Can Dream” house. Look for his Pop/R&B album in the following months. It’s legit!!

You guys…seriously this is a “gossip” blog. This Bonnie lady doesn’t have any video of this conversation and she doesn’t even use quotes. So who knows if Alex even said this or Bonnie just misconstrued what he said to get her blog more traffic! Think of the source guys.

I know that Alex is good friends with Lee and Andrew from the show, so it makes sense that Alex would be rooting for Lee. However, he could have answered the question more diplomatically by simply saying Lee was his favorite. He really didn’t have to diss Crystal or her music. I wonder what he really thinks of Casey! LOL I guess Alex can say what he wants because he’s not going to be going on the Idols tour this summer, so he figures he won’t have to face Crystal again.

Well lets see Maffroo… check recent charts. Who do you see on the charts Jason Mraz and the like or Janis copies. I love Crystal and honestly probably would buy her album but it is about being a current viable recording artist. The majority of record buyers would not buy a Crystal album.

He seemed to be quite chummy with Lee (and Andrew) on the show, so yay for that. Other than that, he just seems SO bitter. :/

Crystal will make it with the Lilith Fair crowd or hippies. For the rest of us, it’ll be Lee or Casey. Young girls vote and don’t vote for women.

i like crystal and am not a hippy… i don’t know the other reference u make, so not sure if i should be insulted or not! but, wanted to agree with you re the primary voting- tween girls, who don’t vote for women. they rarely even vote for girls.

Ya know, I liked Crystal the first few times she sang, but after about 3 of ‘em I’ve heard everything she’s done. I mean don’t get me wrong she’s a great singer. But she hasn’t really done anything new. Look how well Joss Stone’s career went. She’s better than Crystal with the Janis voice and she still isn’t a chart topper. Only one Janis people, Lee will win.

i think i believe you, though i love crystal. cuz, i’m not really a music follower, but everytime i hear joss stone i think, WOW, why isn’t she a bigger star? so, you may be on to something. that said, i really enjoy listening to crystal. i think her album would be better b/c i think it actually would be more emotional than her live performances (excluding people get ready… fell in love).

lol… i must be getting OLD when janis joplin, a rebel drunk drug addict, is old fashioned! i guess it was a long time ago, but to me, that’s like saying jimi hendrix is old fashioned. is that style considered old fashioned too? lol… well, i’m not comparing crystal to janis, and actually, you didn’t either, but everyone else seems to. in any case, had to comment about the old fashioned thing- not to make fun of you- but b/c i really think it is funny and a sign that i REALLY AM GETTING OLD!

Crystal won’t win. They’re doing the same with her thing they did to Adam Lambert. Push her down our throats for the whole season and we’re gonna get sick of her. Lee will win because 14 year old girls vote and he’s a more commercial singer.

hmmm… i agree with your ultimate results conclusions, but not sure how you get to the part about crystal not being original, and lee being original. i like him and wish him the best (tho my taste leans more toward crystal), but, i don’t think he has come across as original on the show. the voters, america, are not original- and they’re gonna choose lee. the more unique you are, frankly, the less chances you have at winning a pop (i.e., popular) contest. look at siobhan- she was the most ‘original’ of any of them- it didn’t win the contest for her. (i was glad to see her go, but she was definitely the most original- right?)

Yes Janet! Alex was scooped up by 19 Entertainment 4 days after he got eliminated. He’s already making an album and has already recorded 3-4 songs! Isn’t that great!
