“Everyone gets criticism, it’s kind of what comes with this job. Everybody’s trying to bring you down,” actor Liam Hemsworth, 20, told us as he stood up for his often-criticized girlfriend Miley Cyrus, 17, last night at the Young Hollywood Awards. After thanking her during his acceptance speech for Breakthrough of the Year, Liam sat down with HollywoodLife.com’s Katrina Mitzeliotis to chat.
All is well with his relationship with Miley: “We get along great, she’s a great girl,” he said. And it’s not just dating that’s going well, apparently their working relationship is, too. “We work great together,” he said.
As for her Miley’s new video, Liam’s a fan. “I think her new video’s great.”
He emphasized that showbiz has gotten her down. “Everyone gets criticism, it’s kind of what comes with this job … everybody’s trying to bring you down. She’s got a good head on her shoulders.”

okay well i think this guys great for her, in all the ways you can imagine. he seems liek a great person. and she’s a great person and im sure they are great people. together. i tihnk the fact that she has people defending her is great. like her boyfriend, her father of course, and ashton kutcher are great people. and probably understand what she was going through. the new video of her and her producer or director or whatever. THE GUY IS GAY!!!!! so what difference does it make! he’s not romantically attracted to her, he doesnt want to screw her, theyre just having fun. and i agree with what GTWB said. its the guys fault aswell if you guys even think its a problem. because in my opinion its not. everyone her age and younger do it. and they look even dirtier, and grind even harder. they just dont have it plastered everywhere for everyone to judge. i feel sad for miles sometimes because she goes through so much critisizm, thankfully she’s got a great support team. because if she didnt. i dont know what she might do. and you know…. this critisizm is a FORM of bullying, and these grown up people need to stop it. theyre crazy mean. and annoying lately.

I think he thought they were talking about her new music video. Though I have no doubt he would probably defend her about her lap dancing I don’t think he would say “I think her new video’s great.” That just wouldn’t make since. I mean he is her boyfriend, there’s no way he would want to see her rubbing her bum against another man’s crotch.

miley deserves to be defended here. shankman does not. i do feel sorry for miley at this very moment. she’s just a girl. unfortunately, it looks like she’s going to need to grow up real soon b/c she’s the only one who can protect herself. her father is not doing it, and the other people on the list of people making money off of her are also not doing it. it’s sad. too bad the media won’t scrutinize the old male pigs in hollywood. sad.
