In the words of Billy Ray Cyrus, “It’s what people [their] age do.” But what about girls as young as FOUR?
As a dancer, I was not disturbed by the 7-year-olds doing a fun dance in tiny outfits to Beyoncé‘s “Single Ladies.” Has no one ever been to a dance recital before? Kids of ALL ages wear little sparkling outfits! Did Elisabeth Hasselbeck‘s comment about Erin Andrews‘ Dancing with the Stars costume really brainwash the nation, causing this big fuss about nothing?
I understand that to people unfamiliar with children’s dance recitals, it MAY be a shock to see 7-year-old girls on stage shaking their booty in tiny outfits, but if you search “dance recital” on YouTube, you’ll find videos WAY more shocking than the infamous girls dancing to “Single Ladies.”
In fact, that’s EXACTLY what I did to prove to some of our office members here at HollywoodLife.com that this dance was not that big of a deal. Check out this video of a 4-year-old’s her solo dance. Let’s just say: multiple costume changes and a chair is involved.

Is that you, Mole? The site’s been up about 3 hours. It seems very lttile escapes your all-seeing eye . Actually, it was the procrastination leading up to the site remake that took the most effort! Our love to everyone.Cheers,Dave

These are the same girls from the single ladies dance look closely. The girls from the single ladies dance are at least all 9 years old. There has been a picture of their faces close up when they are backstage and they look much older than they do on stage. Everyone probably thought they were 7 because the middle dancer has chubby cheeks. But in the backstage picture the blonde girl in the middle is at least 11. Some of them also have bangs that make them look young from far away

I don’t think anyone would disagree that the little girl isn’t just adorable as can be BUT little girls can dance and have fun without the “sexy” moves – I have been going to recitals for years and never seen this going on. It’s teaching little girls to exploit their bodies in a sexy manner and in my opinion is just WRONG! Why aren’t they out playing hopscotch or riding their bikes – makes me sick!

Jenn, I have to agree with you. As a dancer, this is what it is and not everyone is going to understand it. This little girl is adorable! I thought oh how cute, she has costume changes and great facial expressions and I couldn’t dance like that when I was 4 haha. People should probably get their heads out of the gutter, especially if they know nothing about dancing to judge.
