Would you two FINALLY come out as a couple? We know that you’ve gone on TWO dates in the last week!
Very, very suspicious indeed! Apparently the sexual tension between Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder’s Vampire Diaries characters has transferred over to real life gauging by how much time the two are spending together lately!
On Thursday, May 27, Nina, 21, and Ian, 31, laughed and joked non-stop while watching the Lakers play in LA. Even though the two — who play past-life lovers on the CW show that starts shooting again mid-July — were joined by pals Zac Efron and Ryan Rottman, they only had eyes for one another; Ian whispered in Nina’s ear and she touched his arm.
The couple was attached at the hip the next day, May 28, while shopping together at The Stronghold, a hip clothing store in Venice, Calif. Both looked cool in their funky hats: Nina wore a cranberry knit beanie and Ian sported a fedora.
Nina — who’s originally from Toronto but relocated to Atlanta, Georgia for the show — and Ian, a Louisiana native, seem to be spending an awful lot of one-on-one time together recently (they’re co-stars are usually noticeably absent from their excursions). We saw the two setting off together for their Hot Topic Tour at LAX Feb. 13, watched them flirt during a Paley Festival panel May 6 and watched their chemistry at Nina’s birthday party at Asia de Cuba Jan. 12.
Even though Nina explained to us at the Young Hollywood Awards May 13 why she’d NEVER date a co-star, it certainly seems like she’s willing to take that risk.
Nina’s rep declined to comment saying, “We don’t comment on our clients’ personal lives.”

As a fan of them both, I would like to see them together, but Ian has a girlfriend in NY. and that is really unfair to decide who someone should be with for them.

He doesn’t, though. Ian said in June at a fan convention in Australia that he’d broken up with his girlfriend months before.

It’s always more interesting to follow a couple on and off of the set for some reason and of all the Hollywood couples that POTENTIALLY could be dating BOTH on and off why not these two hotties?

The only thing true about your article, is how cool thier hats are. And yeah they are great actors on VD. They probably have good chemistry onset cos of thier friendship. They seem very comfortable with each other. Why write a story about it? O.o

They’re chemistry as Damon and Elena on-screen is OFF THE HOOK! Off-screen they seem pretty close, I don’t know about dating, but honestly in every interview..you can feel the electricity between them! It’s obvious they’re attracted to each other!

I love them as Damon/Elena, but as Ian and Nina – I don’t support them as a couple. I think they are more like besties or close siblings.
