Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus, are you completely cuckoo?
Do you really want your daughter Miley, 17, to be the next Britney Spears or Lindsay Lohan? Are you so caught up in the cash proceeds of Miley Inc. that you’re OK with your daughter feeling herself up on stage, in public, during her concerts? Are you really OK with her dressed in itsy bitsy thigh-baring costumes? Are you OK with her writhing around seductively in her “Can’t Be Tamed” video, and simulating a makeout session with two men?
This whole situation is wrong on so many levels. Let’s start with — it’s wrong for Miley to have agreed to play the child and teen character, Hannah Montana, for another year if she intended to behave like a stripper on stage.
Whether she likes it or not, she is making millions by playing Hannah, who is a role model for millions of little girls. No matter how many interviews Miley gives saying she doesn’t see herself as a role model, she has tacitly accepted that role by continuing to take money to play Ms. Montana.
In a way, she’s the Tiger Woods of teenage girls. When he accepted the platinum endorsement of repping American Express, he was “agreeing” to be a role model. She has made the same deal. And like Tiger, in reality she’s behaving like the devil.
When parents take their young daughters to see a Miley Cyrus concert — and yes, her major fans are 6 to 13-year-olds — they will be outraged by Miley’s suggestive moves, including pushing up her tiny top and touching her breasts, as she did May 29 in Lisbon, Portugal, at the Rock in Rio concert. (See the video below.)
This leads me to another reason that Miley’s behavior is wrong. It’s wrong because it’s ruining her Miley Cyrus “brand!” And the adults who are helping manager her career should know it.
Miley, I’m sure like most 17-year-olds, is in a big hurry to grow up. She’s personally desperate to throw off what she sees as the shackles of Hannah Montana. She can’t wait to be an adult star.
But she IS only 17, which means she’s prone to reckless behavior. And acting like a stripper on stage and in numerous photos, where she’s pulled her top up or down and shown her bra, is being reckless with the wholesome “brand” she’s built.
“She’s abandoning her core audience of young girls when there’s no guarantee she’ll get an older audience,” branding expert Samantha Ettus tells me. “I don’t think people are going to be comfortable with a sexy minor selling herself to other minors.”
As if Miley’s skimpy stage outfits weren’t enough to make her point that she’s not interested in appealing to the little girls who love her, she made sure to go out June 1 wearing a t-shirt with a topless Heidi Klum giving the finger to the world.
Ah, Miley — is that how you feel about your fans? It sure seems like it! Finally, Miley’s sexually exhibitionist behavior isn’t just wrong for her fans. It’s also wrong for her personally.
With dad Billy Ray and mom Tish condoning it, she’s been showing off sexually exhibitionist tendencies for some time, starting with her topless Vanity Fair cover, when she was just 15.
Then there was the pole dancing at the Teen Choice Awards in 2009, the bra-bearing episodes, the “Can’t Be Tamed” video, and now the breast-touching on stage!
Geez — what’s next for Miley? A sex tape? If she’s this turned on by sexually overt behavior, to get attention at 17, what’s she going to be doing at 18, 19, and 25?
Mr. and Mrs. Cyrus — you better worry because Miley’s right — unless you interfere while you still can before she turns 18 on Nov. 23, she won’t be able to be tamed! And in the end, she will pay the heaviest price for it.

She seems to be attention deprived…which is odd, considering that the girl is so often watched. But that’s the double-edged sword of Hollywood. She clearly is rebelling, we’ve seen this plenty of times over with child stars. It’s quite sad.
I wish the best for her. It’s sad to see a young girl come into adulthood by rebelling, but she’s trying to find herself. I don’t want to compare her, but I think she could learn a lot more about how to transition into an adult career by following Selena Gomez. You don’t get an adult career over night, but she’s trying so hard to get their, and it’s just making bringing her whole image down.
Maybe it will take her hitting rock bottom to finally come out of this.

From an artist critic point of view her music video ‘The Big Bang’ was a tad provocative but I believe what was done went together aesthetically with her whole demons of the past theme. Yes she’s 17, and exposing herself but it’s not her to blame, it’s 1.) her parents who are supporting the behavior, because as a minor her parents have legal right to what she does in front of the cameras. Also it is their fault for not instilling stronger morals and beliefs into her. And 2.) The media. Every ad and campaign now revolves around how sex sells. She’s growing up, she’s exploring her sexuality, whether she decides to do that privately or publicly is her decision. It’s ridiculous how these journalists can act like they never went through the teen years. She’s still a teenager and is prone to peer pressure. She’s changing her image, she wants to be known as a desirable young woman not a Disney channel blond little girl with a gummy smile. And give her a break, you can’t pick on her anymore when she turns 18. Also her target market has changed, just because she’s growing up doesn’t mean her fans aren’t either.
Please I have had enough of these Miley articles. Point the finger at the real culprits of society.

What is up with you all saying that she’s comfortable with her sexuality so leave her alone, oh, haha, wait a minute. the ones I just read from a posted by males… Jailbait? She is underage and no underage girl should be doing dressing or acting like that especially when her fan base is 12 years old

I agree with Bear said; leave Miley alone.
She is obviously comfortable with her body and her sexuality. Maybe some girls need a role model like that in their lives… someone who is unashamed of who they are, whatever other people are saying. It’s a lot better than the parents that teach kids to be ashamed of their bodies and to be ashamed of exploring their sexuality.
Yes, she is 17, but so what? There is no “magical age” when a teenager grows up, and some mature faster than others – how do you know that Miley isn’t one of them? Maybe Miley grew up faster because she’s had so many unique experiences that you HAVEN’T been through. Besides, there are a lot of older pop stars that are scantily clad (e.g. Lady Gaga, Beyonce). Do you honestly think girls don’t look up to them as well? Maybe we should just pass a law requiring all pop stars to wear baggy T-shirts and jeans, eh?
Also, I sense some inherent sexism. If someone saw a 17-year old male pop star taking off his shirt or something, no one would even care. Miley shows a bit more skin and now she’s a “slut”.
I don’t know who you are, Bonnie, but PLEASE find something more worthwhile to write about, instead of bashing a 17-year old kid who’s braver and more confident than you are.

I’M sorry for what I’m about to say But “SHE IS A SLUT!!” These Kids should look up to her and follow their dreams and should be comfortable with their bodies but they also should wait until They are older to wear stuff like that..My Little sister looks up to her and shes already wearing Mini Skirts and tube tops and she’s only 8 years old!

Your SISTER’S PARENTS are the ones buying her clothes if she’s only 8. Miley can obviously afford to buy her own, and drive herself to the store. PLEASE don’t blame a ‘role model’ for your sister’s disgusting wardrobe. My daughters are 9 and 12 and I can guarantee they don’t wear anything like your describing…
And no, they don’t go to school and change, as some kids do, because we talk about body image and self-respect, and I know what my kids do,,,because we TALK.

Her fan base is 12 years old. 12 year olds don’t go to lady gaga concerts but they do go to Miley Cyrus ones. Do you have young kids? And there aren’t any teenage boy singers that are acting anywhere near this, and when that one American Idol winner Adam something or other, an adult, made a sexual innuendo he was lit up and was told to apologize, so that rules out the whole sexism thing.

We can thank people like Madonna for this. She pioneered groping yourself and being groped on stage as well as simulated sex, lesbian kissing, masturbating onstage etc. Who were HER fans? little girls also. Probably Tish Cyrus admired Madonna and now that her daughter is emulating her, well she thinks its just fine. These are her parents values and she has internalized them. She played the good girl onstage as Hannah Montana, but in her heart htat was not who she was or is. Her parents dont have a problem with this becasue they think its normal. So womanhood is going down the toilet and when American womanhood goes down the toilet the entire nations will go down with it.
