Was Miley wrong to ditch her Hannah Montana image? Music industry insiders weigh in to reveal whether ditching her Disney image will hurt or help her career
Miley Cyrus, we know how happy you are to have ditched your good-girl, Hannah Montana image, but should you be? Now that you’re dressing and acting all sexy, your album sales have taken a nosedive. In its first week, you new album, “Can’t Be Tamed”, sold 102,000 copies – 51,000 less copies than your Wal-mart exclusive CD, “Time of Our Lives”, sold last September. Does your new look take some getting used to, or is your whole “not a girl, not yet a woman” thing going to permanently ruin your career?
The answer is NO! Three music industry insiders weigh in and tell HollywoodLife.com that, despite the temporary drop in sales, ditching her Disney image was the smartest thing the 16-year-old starlet could possibly do!
“Miley is at a stage in her career where she can change her look and sound, but it will ultimately change how she is perceived,” explains one radio programmer. “Christina [Aguilera] and Britney [Spears] all had this turning point in their careers. One turned out OK, the other a raging psychopath. The choice is entirely Miley’s, but she should look at those who came before her.”
“It is a necessary move for her music career as she continues to distance herself from her Disney past,” says expert number 2, a music manager “There is always an opening in the marketplace for a young, sexy female pop star that fans can identify with. Miley has the opportunity to attract new fans while her current base will continue to grow with her and embrace this new look and sound. It’s a necessary evil and this new Miley will work out in the long run!”
Agrees our third expert, a DJ, “Miley looks to potentially crush her career with her new attitude and risque look. Some say her bold approach is refreshing, but the only thing refreshing about the pop stars’ change of the guard is that she has taken off the kids gloves, replaced them with brass knuckles, and is set to knock her music careers teeth right down its throat.”

WoW! She threw herself under the bus big time! The whole world understands that she wants to brust out of that ‘Hannah Montana’ bubble, but there’s other ways to present yourself. lol What can you expect from a girl who was raised by a father whose career is primarily a flop and he’s most known for a song like “don’t break my heart, my achy breaky heart”?….. It’s funny that he stooped to riding on the coat tails of his daughter.. She doesn’t have much to look up to. She’s just trailer trash with money. I’m just waiting for her to get knocked up.

actually now shes 18 and i agree and if you noticed she never wore clothes like this till gaga came out and the album cover photo for can’t be tamed is simlar to that of britney spears’ my preogative album cover

I think it is SICK to try and make this young girl into some sexy woman, she is a child, even at 18 (which she isn’t yet) is too young to dress like a tramp. Her parents let her run her own life and have for several years from what I can see. So sad.
Haviing money shouldn’t mean losing part of your childhood.

its obvious that is just an act (unlike Britney’s transformation) because her everyday clothing is the same an just as conservative and youthful as before. Her team is just trying to add some shock value to her stage outfits. I think after this album, they will analyize which costumes/performances garnered the most views and buzz and they will go in the direction that worked the best.
