Shorts may be all the rage, but steer clear of this terrible take on the trend!
Some styles should never be revived! Seeing Blake Lively on the Gossip Girl set in NYC last week in a pair of floral culottes reminded me that in the spring I picked up a pair of the baggy, skirt-like shorts in a fun print, so I decided to break them out this weekend. While they were incredibly comfortable, they were quite possibly the most unflattering item of clothing I’ve worn in a while — I don’t think the high-waisted, flimsy fabric and extra material would do anything for anyone, and my friends were very quick to tell me to change. I looked more like an unstylish mom (ala Kate Gosselin) than a chic chick. I honestly do not know what I was thinking when I tried on the shorts and decided to purchase them!
Even Blake looks kind of awkward in the trend from the side — although if you insist on wearing them your best bet is to pair them with a simple top and a high pump or wedge, just like the star.
Do you agree and think the shorts are a terrible trend or do you love to kick back in culottes?

i’m very torn about this trend, but very happy you have such good friends to tell you when you need to change! if my body were what it used to be, i think i could be persuaded to buy a pair of culottes… but they are a little bit on the verge of a “don’t” constantly. i can’t decide… i don’t fault you for buying them! there is something tempting about them b/c they seem like they are somehow making a miniskirt practical, or shorts more “pretty”…
