IDOL SHAKEUP? Elton John & Justin Timberlake Might Be New Judges…But Everyone Else Would Get The Ax!
Fox is reportedly in talks to majorly switch up the judge lineup this season on American Idol!
If Fox gets its way, it’s not just going to be Simon Cowell who’s replaced this season on American Idol. According to a story by Deadline | Hollywood, Fox executives have been in talks to replace the current judges with superstars like Elton John and Justin Timberlake.
“Industry rumors have been circulating for weeks that [show's creator Simon] Fuller and Fox are considering not just replacing Cowell, but dumping the entire judges panel,” The Hollywood Reporter claims.
There are two things stopping this major Idol shakeup. Both Elton and Justin would cost a fortune to hire and Fox is allegedly trying to figure out its finances. Additionally, both Ellen DeGeneres and Randy Jackson‘s contracts carry them further through the series, and breaking their deals would be complicated and expensive. Kara DioGuardi‘s contract still has yet to be renewed.
