Famed plastic surgeon Dr. Frank Ryan died on the scene after flipping his car over the side of the Pacific Coast Highway. He ‘changed the world,’ says Heidi on her Twitter.

Dr. Frank Ryan, famous for performing 23-year-old reality star Heidi Montag‘s drastic plastic surgery in 2009, was killed in a car accident Aug. 16. TMZ reports that after flipping his car Frank was, “trapped in the vehicle and had major head injuries. The Ventura County Fire Department tried hoisting Ryan using a helicopter, but the attempt was called off. Ryan was pronounced dead at the scene.” He was 50-years-old.

Heidi wrote on her twitter following the accident, “I am devastated to hear the news of Dr. Frank Ryan’s death. He was the most amazing person I have ever known. He was an angel and changed my life and the lives of everyone he met. He was the most brilliant talented surgeon who will ever exist. Dr. Frank Ryan changed the world.”

Heidi was not Frank’s only famous patient, as he also worked on Gene Simmons, Shauna Sand, Vince Neil, and Adrianne Curry.

Frank was tweeting just minutes before his accident, showing a photo of his border collie and writing, “After 25 years of driving by, I finally hiked to the top of the giant sand dune on the pch west of malibu. Much harder than it looks! Whew!”

While injured, Frank’s dog did survive the crash.
