There was a ton of hype surrounding Kate’s single-mom reality show this summer, but now Kate’s barely holding onto her reality TV queen throne!
Kate Gosselin has a lot to be thankful for — but ratings is definitely not at the top of her list. TLC gave the reality mom-of-eight the lucrative opportunity to have her own show after she and Jon Gosselin called it quits. Despite the hype surrounding the show, Kate’s new spin-off Kate Plus 8 isn’t bringing in the numbers TLC may have hoped for.
The series debut of Kate Plus 8 brought in 3.4 million which was a very strong standing for a Sunday night special, but the second episode July 11 shot down 33 percent with only 2.2 million viewers. And the most disappointing news for Kate and her tots were the most recent TV ratings from the Aug. 30 episode. Ratings dropped yet again, and as it turns out, only 1.6 million people tuned in to watch Kate and her brood.
We’re guessing this is why Kate’s been dressing more seductively and gussying it up for the camera with super low-cut tops and stilettos. But even Kate’s “new look” isn’t garnering enough attention for the show. Back when Jon used to star on Jon and Kate Plus 8, each episode would average around 2 million viewers — and the infamous episode in which Jon and Kate finally announced their divorce brought in a whopping 10 million viewers!
Moms probably feel like they can’t relate to the former nurse anymore. Now that Kate’s been a diva on Dancing with the Stars, hired a personal bodyguard, and is dressing like a teen, mommies are being turned off. Kate definitely has an amazing life and we’d definitely love to be a Gosselin kid, but she better try something new before she’s a reality mom no more!
The big question is, what’s going to happen with her upcoming show, Twist of Kate — will TLC still air the show?

Are you serious, you’d love to be a Gosselin kid? No dad at home, diva mom out promoting herself all the time, raised by nannies, your best friends are cameramen, the only attention you get from mom is when the cameras are rolling. Yeah, great life.

I watched the show when it was about a real life. I liked her when she was a regular housewife who appreciated Jon’s small salary and a regular mom who would rather cook than sit in the pedicure salon. She is a good example of “good-turned-into-evil” by greed. I miss the kids, but I don’t watch the show. They are being used by Kate for her own luxurious celebrity life. Nothing else. It makes me sick.

It seems all Kate Gosselin does is vacation. In these hard times most of us cannot relate to this. This is not reality for most people. Watching Kate and her children take one vacation after another is getting boring.

It’s either “exploit” the kids by putting them on TV WITH her, or neglect them significantly more by going and getting a “real” job, which no one seems to comprehend would keep her AWAY from the kids for all the hours she’d have to put in to make enough money to support them.

Why is Angelina Jolie any different? Because she was a celebrity BEFORE she had kids? I don’t buy it. Every new kid she has appears in a People magazine photo shoot. Should she end her career just because she has kids?

The reason Angelina Jolie is not criticized is because she is a “real actress” with real talent. Angelina does not have a reality TV show with her kids being filmed doing their every day routine. Wake up Eric!!!!! There is no comparison here. You are comparing apples to oranges or should I say Filet Mignon to dog food.

What career? It’s apples and oranges between Angelina Jolie (who went to film school and work her way up through the movie industry) and K.G., who started “her” show as a reality show depicting the struggles of a young couple raising sextuplets and twins. People were attracted to the situation, the kids, the struggles, and the interaction between the couple. Now, there is no interaction, no struggle (except for recognition and a magic movie career), and those poor kids look miserable. Sorry–can’t watch anymore. It’s a train wreck. I hope she’s saved at least half of the windfall she’s gotten in the last year.

Her children are older now and are in school.
Nurses get paid quite well and could pick her hours.
She doesn’t need a 10,000 sq ft house or swimming pool.
Does Kate have friends? family? NOPE…just her body guard and crew. Truthfully, I feel Jon should take the kids. It’s apparent Kate is only about Kate now.

It’s not REAL anymore. believe it or not the first couple of seasons actually seemed real. Now… the way Kate dresses.. the things she says… the types of activities and outings they do… everything seems so forced, planned, and fake. The shows use to follow storylines like: Jon and Kate, dressed in their sweats, hanging out around the house, cleaning cooking, kids playing… you know, normal stuff. and i actually find that a thousand times more entertaining than kate, all dressed up, taking her kids on some all expenses paid vacation.

i don’t watch it because i don’t trust kate. i used to think that, although she is often a handfull, she was a good mom who knew how to make good decisions, and was doing the show to make money to support her family. now i just feel like she does the show because she’s hungary for fame or something. she’s done all of these magazine interviews, and other rality shows like DWTS, and now celebrity apprentice, and i think she cares more about becoming a TV star than what’s best for her kids. I won’t support another pubicity stunt of hers. i think she needs to smarten up and end the show.

I was going to watch the show to see what it was like for her now that Jon’s gone, even thought I can’t stand her & think she ruined her marraige, but I’m not interested in seeing them on vacation time & time again. What’s the interest in that?!

I don’t watch the show because I don’t agree with parents and television networks exploiting children and making them work long hours under bad conditions. If Kate wants to earn money by being on a reality show, she should do one without the kids. Ooops – that’s right, no one wants Kate, not even her own network. Twist of Kate is apparently shelved, not even one episode shown. Many people have lots of kids – and they find a way to support them by working regular jobs, living frugally, etc. Kate should have thought about how to support lots of kids before she wilfully chose to have a 2nd expensive procedure to get pregnant. I don’t feel sorry for adults who make bad choices and then want their own minor kids to bail them out.

She says this is all for her kids She always brings up how can anyone raise 8 kids on my salary. Umm Kate you are not the only one in this world that 8 children and those families are not on TV. Don’t you argue with I am a single mom with they proved that almost all couples who have multiples like that end up in divorce due to the stress.

I vowed not to EVER watch her again after her opening show of Kate Plus Eight. Everything she says or does irrates the hell out of me, so why watch this Wicked Witch of Wernersville. I personally don’t know of a single person that thinks she has any redeeming qualities at all. She is very hated out here in TV land so it’s about time that the haters stop watching this wench and she will finally go AWAY!!!!…..By the way, I keep my word.

This woman is out for two things – MONEY and FAME! She is a total diva and thinks she is a true star. Kate craves attention…..you can see it in the way she acts and especially in the way she dresses. I watched maybe 20 minutes of this new show and haven’t watched it since. I don’t care to see bratty Mady or Kate parading around in skimpy clothes and high heels. She really needs a reality check. I wish the woman would GO AWAY and be a mom to her kids. She always says they are NO. 1, yet the only thing that is NO. 1 to Kate is herself!!! I wish she would just go away!!!

What is there to watch?
Kate screaming about one thing or another, or going on constant vacations that most folks especially with kids can’t afford.
The kids are sulking half the time and they don’t even know how much they have.

The kids are annoying for starters and these outings seem contrived like they’re forcing the “fun” on us. I think Kate is miserable but pretending she’s enjoying herself when she’d probably be anywhere else but out on a filmed field trip with the film crew and her children. I did like it when Jon was still in the picture but now it’s just boring. Say what you will about Jon but he did add a lot to that show.

I happened to stop on the show the other night, she is horrible or I mean still the same, ‘xcept not, now she talks to the people behind the cameras, while being filmed ya know complaining or bitching about something, like she wants them to agree with whatever she is bitching about!
Kate, maybe your 15 minutes are up? Give Danielle Staub[b] a call she can help you keep you name out there! But get ready to throw every single person you know under the bus!

Why do the 1.2 million watch the show? Who wants to watch a family get to do the things many families can’t afford to do right now? She has nobody left to ‘conflict’ with except for the kids. Maybe they should show a little action between Kate and the bodyguard. Then, she could ruin that relationship (while breaking up his family) onscreen, alienate her kids in the process, and ruin his life. Ratings would be back to 10 million (at least for a couple of weeks).

Who wants to watch someone running around in high heels, short shorts and low cut necklines out supposely having fun with her kids. Also she always complains and says the kids would rather be with her, then why is she not at home with them. I think she has enough money for now. We just dont want to see her any more because she carried things to extremes. Enough is enough go away.

Why would the kids want to be with her. They never look happy in any pictures I see of them with her at all. She doesn’t look happy when she is with them. Sad, children are a gift from God, but sadly, she thinks she is God. I knew this would all come to an end, and it will be fun to watch. She will lose every thing and have to go back to a real job….bummer huh Khate!!! Love your kids and take care of them, that’s what important at the end of the day, not your nails, or anything else that is fake about you!! You suck!!!

It was pretty funny that she was on Regis saying that when the kids are with Jon, she sits at home by the phone. Then she leaves that studio, gets on a plane and flies to Mexico with her “bodyguard,” while the kids spend time with Jon. Yeah, sure she sits by the phone.

You have got to be kidding her ratings are 2nd from the bottom of cable shows this week. No that is not excellent even for TLC just look at the ratings for the other shows…she is down to 1.3 viewers. Tired of looking at her cleavage and side boobs hope this is the beginning of the end.

The ratings keep sinking. No, they’re not bad for a small network like TLC, but did you know that reruns of NCIS get higher ratings than Kate Plus 8? The only reason some people still watch is for the kids, but I think more and more people have to turn away – because what we’re shown is basically child abuse. It’s pretty sickening.

I would rather watch reruns of the Cosby Show, Roseanne, All in the Family….Kate looks like a hooker who should be on a street corner…she should be ashamed of herself for dressing this way around her children…thought parents were to set an example for their children…she is nothing more than an egotistical, loud mouthed, slut-looking idiot..I will not watch that show again…now TLC has a show on about 3 sisters with the same husband…who wants to watch this garbage????
