New York Fashion Week 2010 – Ellen DeGeneres Rocks Richie Rich’s Runway Show!

Richie Rich, famous for his “over the top” designs of season’s past, clearly delivered at his Spring 2010 show with bubble gum pink accents and tutu-inspired frocks.  But, the big surprise wasn’t the outrageous looks.  It was the celebrity finale!

Ellen DeGeneres was the surprise celebrity that walked the runway for the show’s finale ending with the designer himself.  Ellen donned a shiny silver pantsuit with pastel T, topped off with what appeared to be a petite bow straw hat (either shrunken in a microwave or stolen from a doll, we’re sure).  Rich has been known to include celebrities in past shows – most notably Pamela Anderson who had held up a previous show with her tardiness.  Portia de Rossi looked on in the front row as her significant other took the runway.  Staff had signed waivers earlier to avoid early press leaks.

Rich’s collection included the youthful trend of cupcake tier dresses, playful use of turquoise/aqua, and sexy hot short shorts.  Tulle, ruffles and rosettes abound! Also worth mentioning was the shocking blue eye shadow that was plastered on every runway diva’s peepers.  Clearly, Barbie (circa 1980) was an inspiration!
