The Stefan/Elena/Damon triangle (Stelemon?) got even sharper Nov. 4 — so stop reading if you haven’t watched!

Great news for Stelena shippers: Damon (Ian Somerhalder) has officially bowed out of the fight over Elena (Nina Dobrev.) Tonight’s episode ended with a shocking confession as Damon told Elena he loves her, and then a disappointing twist as he compelled her into forgetting his big speech. He said he can’t be “selfish” with her, so he’s going to let her get back with Stefan (Paul Wesley.) I think I speak for all my fellow Delena enthusiasts when I say, “What the hell, Damon? Why did you have to suddenly become noble NOW?”

But the episode wasn’t ALL about “Stelemon.” We’re also finally starting to learn why Elena and Katherine look alike: They’re related! As it turns out, Elena’s kidnappers were two mercenary vampires — including Lauren Cohan as saucy British vampire Rose — and their orders were to hand Elena over to Elijah, a member of the “Original” family of vamps (shout out to Buffy‘s “First.”) They were technically ordered to kidnap Katherine, but Elena was easier, and they’re both “Petrova döpplegangers.”

We also finally found out what the Moonstone does, and it is NOT good news for our girl, Elena. The Moonstone is what binds the Curse of the Moon and the key to breaking the curse is the blood of a Petrova döppleganger (i.e. Katherine’s or Elena’s.) But even this answer merely leaves me with more questions: How exactly are Katherine and Elena related, and… could there possibly be a third döppleganger out there somewhere?

But while it was a bummer night for Delena devotees, it was a GREAT night for those of us hoping to see Bonnie (Katerina Graham) and Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) become a legit thing. They told each other they both feel “alone” and misunderstood. There’s a seriously emo love connection going on here, and I approve 100 percent. But let the record show I’m worried about the Bonster. Let us not forget how overusing magic killed her dearly departed Grams (Jasmine Guy) from last season.
