Very few artists really blew anyone away at the American Music Awards with Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber all doing fine, but nothing great!

The best part of the American Music Awards is the abundance of performances from every major name in music — Rihanna, Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, Ke$ha, Usher, Katy Perry, Black Eyed Peas, and the first appearance of super-group NKOTBSB (New Kids on the Block & Backstreet Boys) to name just a few. But for the most part, they were all underwhelming!

On the plus side, Rihanna’s opening number seemed to drag on forever but had I known that would be the best performance of the night I would have gladly sat through another 20 minutes of her dancing and singing as opposed to boring, run of the mill performances by Miley and Taylor!

Also giving a shockingly great performance was Ke$ha who, along with P!nk, seemed to be one of the few artists who brought some actually energy to the show. These two ladies definitely proved they can sing and keep the audience’s attention at the same time!

Of course, there was really no way that NKOTBSB was going to disappoint and, while the dancing was at times a bit wooden, the boy band super-group seemed to have the entire audience enthralled.

As for the bad, well, Katy was not having a great night. The music completely drowned out her voice, her unitard looked, for lack of a better word, ridiculous and the firework display manage to simply hide her for half the performance.
