Can you imagine Glee without Rachel Berry, Finn Hudson, and Kurt Hummel? Well, you might need to start, because Ryan Murphy has plans to graduate his core cast!
High school doesn’t last forever, not even in TV land, so it should come as no surprise that Ryan Murphy has plans to move out his core cast members, like Cory Monteith, Lea Michele, Mark Salling and Chris Colfer, and make room for some new students. The question is…who are you willing to lose to graduation?
In a recent interview with News Limited in Australia, the Glee creator admitted that even he doesn’t have the magic to keep around his original New Directions kids. “Every year we’re going to populate a new group,” Ryan said in the article. “There’s nothing more depressing than a high schooler with a bald spot.”
The mastermind behind one of TV’s hottest shows revealed that the end of the 2012 season is most likely the time when the cast makes their exit. “”I think you have to be true to the fact that here is a group of people who come and go in these teachers’ lives – they graduate and they’re gone,” he said, before admitting that introducing Chord Overstreet was part of the process to bring new students in and phasing the older ones out.
“When some of them finish their run at high school it will be very teary episodes. For me it will be particularly tough but a new crop (of actors) will come in,” Ryan admitted.
Glee fans have been so used to the drama of “Finchel” and the antics of Puck, and it’s hard to imagine an episode without Kurt. When the time comes for the original cast members to “graduate,” who will get the most tears from you and who will you be glad to see go?

BIG BIG MISTAKE!!! The 3 main characters are why I watched in the 1st place. 1st season was best when the focus was on the glee club. It went down hill when it became the Gweneth Paltrow show and became too serious. Lighten up…go back to some comedy and good music.. This last season was not good and if you get rid of Finn, Rachel and Kurt, the series is over. Bring back the crazy ex-wife, the coach, and more Sue!

The show simply would not work without Rachel.
Kurt next, than Finn.
The rest are disposable.

Here’s the thing: the writing isn’t good enough to add new characters. The reason the show works so well is the chemistry among the original cast. When they go, they dynamic will change and Glee won’t be the same. BUT, I voted for Rachel, because without her I’m out. Glee hasn’t been the same since it turned into the St. Kurt show — I want more Rachel!

After the 3rd season, I’m not watching the show anymore. You cannot replace the original cast.. Its just not possible to have this good of a show without the actors and actresses who make it.

Btw, I’ll miss Kurt the most! But– it’s hard to imagine any episode without Rachel or Finn… and to a slightly lesser extent, any of them. I’m so used to Tuesdays with these Gleeks =/

DEEPLY depends on who they cast, and how they handle it.
I love the whole cast here, so that’s a big problem, for me to tune in when not/just even one of them is there. And the second big problem is, I mostly watch the show because of Chris Colfer. To see him specially not there would be even more unappealing.
But that’s not to say I wouldn’t be giving it a chance. The cast themselves need to move on… playing high school characters when they’re well over is just wasting and diminishing their talent. I’d love to see the cast branch out onto new projects. As I’ve said already, I’m a big Colfer fan and I want to see him make more use of his talent.
Ryan Murphy and the other writers/creators have once heck of a challenge on their hands. I hope they’ll be able to pull it off well. Maybe a few guest starring spots from the graduated students would be possible…?
However it plays out, I’ll be an emotional wreck saying goodbye to them! =[

Graduation should be the end of the show. Period. If a cast has really good chemistry together, it is almost impossible to duplicate, and most attempts to do so fail. I’d rather see Glee go out on top after 4 seasons, then try to drag it on for 7 or 8 seasons with people that could be played by cardboard cutouts.

If they change so mnay of the cast all at once forget it , It will lose thousands of viewers for sure. Ryan Murphy is AN IDIOT. Bring in new cast members but DO NOT LET RACHEL, KURT, FINN AND THE REST LEAVE. This is television get creative, like they all flunked senior classes and had to take another year or two because they spent too much time in Glee and flunked Not realistic but who cares after all it is non fiction.

Come on already this show is a super hit BECAUSE OF LEA,(RACHEL) FINN, KURT ETC MAKE THIS SHOW. I AM SURE THERE ARE MANY OTHER GREAT YOUNG SINGERS AND ACTORS BUT THEY STILL LOOK YOUNG ENOUGH FOR A FEW SEASONS ON GLEE. I hate when networks mess with what works and is successful. LEAVE GLEE ALONE THE CAST IS GREAT AS IT IS. INTRODUCE NEW PEOPLE GRADUALLY BUT TO LOSE THE TOP ONES ALL AT ONCE IS LUDACROUS.

I can’t believe they would continue the show without the main charcters. I figured when they graduated the show would be over.
