‘Teen Mom’ Amber Portwood In Jail For For Domestic Abuse — Pleads NOT GUILTY To Battery Charges!
Indiana prosecutors have finally charged the mom of baby Leah over the violent fight she had with her boyfriend Gary Shirley that was caught on MTV cameras.
Amber Portwood will be spending the night in jail. We told you a warrant had been issued for the arrest of Teen Mom star Amber Portwood, and HollyBaby.com can now confirm that the 20-year-old has been booked at the Madison County Jail in Anderson, Ind., and she will be spending her next 24 hrs behind bars.
Just over an hour ago, Amber pled not guilty to the battery and neglect charges she’s facing — which, quite frankly, really defies logic, as the charges stem from incidents that were caught on tape and aired on national TV by MTV. More on that aspect of the case to come. Meanwhile …
Amber’s plea was entered for her by a judge in an Anderson, Ind. court and she is expected to be released on $5,000 bail sometime later today.
“The Anderson Police Department brought Amber in at 4:21pm and she is required to stay here until this time tomorrow,” an office at the Madison Country Jail tells HollyBaby.com. “I can’t tell you what kind of spirits she’s in but I can tell you she’s here and has been booked. Amber’s bond has been set at $5,000 but she only has to pay 10 percent of that to be released.”
Amber was criminally charged with two felony counts of domestic battery and one count of neglect of a dependent as well as a misdemeanor charge in the wake of her violent fight with ex-boyfriend and baby daddy Gary Shirley. The incident, which took place in front of the couple’s toddler, Leah, was caught on camera as MTVcameras rolled.
More trouble for Amber! She slept through a visit from child services!
RadarOnline.com reports that Amber faces up to three years in jail and $10,000 in fines.
Amber couldn’t afford Christmas gifts for Leah
Amber and Gary’s daughter was made a ward of the state of Indiana at the end of November, and Leah was spending the bulk of each week in her mother’s care (albeit with weekly checks by an official from the Department of Children’s Services). But now that Amber has actually been charged with neglect of her child it remains to be seen whether this custody arrangement will continue.
We spoke with Gary and he responded: “I can’t, no comment, I’m sorry.”

Now, i heard of doing a lot of stupid things but sleeping through a visit from DCF? Come on now, you would think DCF coming to your house to give you your kid back would make you cut back on your partying a little bit. Amber’s problem is that she doesn’t realize what it is to be a “Teen Mom”. Anybody could have a baby, doesn’t make you a mom
