From a lovey dovey vampire to a financial genius, Rob is really going to be switching gears for his next film!
Proving yet again he is the hardest working guy in Hollywood, Robert Pattinson has just signed on to star in David Cronenberg‘s next film Cosmopolis after he completes Breaking Dawn. Our sister site Deadline reports Rob will be playing the lead role of Eric Packer, “a financial wunderkind who risks his entire fortune to bet against the yen on a tumultuous day. His deed puts him in the crosshairs for assassination. The drama is a study of capitalism in a slightly futuristic metropolis.” Twilight this is not!
Rob is currently in Baton Rogue filming the final two installments of the Twilight series, Breaking Dawn. His film Water for Elephants will be released later this year, in which he stars alongside Oscar winners Reese Witherspoon and Christoph Waltz. Also slated for this year, his lead role in Bel Ami with Uma Thurman and Christina Ricci.
Cosmopolis is based on the novel of the same name by acclaimed American author Don DeLillo. Canadian auteur Cronenberg meanwhile is most famous for films such as A History of Violence and Eastern Promises, as well as his ability to attract the industry’s top talent for his flicks.
Marion Cotillard and Colin Farrell had been attached to the film at an earlier stage.
What do you think about Rob’s new role HollywoodLifers?

I am very happy for him. Directors who know about the acting business ust keep inviting him to be a part of their projects. Idiots who know nothing about acting say he can’t act. Of course he can act. It took an Oscar worthy performance to get the kind of audience reaction to Twilight that has carried the fanchise through three films and in into th fourth and fifth. He is an outstanding actor and a very nice human being. Fugly?? Are you nuts. He is gorgeous, talented, and truly a gentleman. I wish him nothing but the best and will not miss any film that he stars in.

This line “Rob is currently in Baton Rogue filming the final two installments of the Twilight series, Breaking Dawn.: should read Rob is currently in Baton Rouge filming the final two installments of the Twilight series, Breaking Dawn.
In French, Baton Rouge means Red Stick.

Congrats to Rob!
I think he will be great in this role. It’ completely different character, it;s off the wall, and it will give him a chance to break out from the Twilight role. David Cronenberg is so bazaar and I can’t wait to see the two team up. I get fed up with the negativity, frankly I don’t know why people are so mean. All the roles Rob has taken post Twilight have been diverse, he is really trying to take chances and good for him.
And yes, he can act. If he couldn’t he’d wouldn’t be making films with David Cronenberg and the like and he wouldn’t have done so well in Remember Me. So give him a chance.

david cronenberg is good at what he does, and brings out the best in actors. im looking foward to this. i want to see what cronenberg does with rob. its been said before that rob needs a good strong director, and cronenberg might be it.
