If these new reports are accurate, this is the ultimate outrage.
Not a month after burying his wife of 32 years, Elizabeth Edwards, on Dec. 11, John Edwards may already have gotten engaged — to the woman who destroyed his marriage to Elizabeth.
The National Enquirer reports that John proposed to Rielle Hunter, his former mistress and mother of their love-child, Frances Quinn Hunter, in front of John and Elizabeth’s three children: Cate, 28, Jack, 10, and Emma Claire, 12. (The Enquirer broke the original story of Edwards’ affair.)
John reportedly took his children to a lodge near the home of Rielle in Charlotte, NC, and then took them to the Macaroni Grill, for their first official meeting with the woman who broke up his marriage. According to the story, Rielle “wept” and John allegedly promised Rielle that they would one day become “one big happy family.”
“After discussing it with a friend,” says a source. “Rielle said she decided to tell John’s kids, ‘Call me Mommy.’”
A recent report this week revealed that Elizabeth left John out of her will. The loyal wife and health care advocate was buried in Oakwood Cemetery in Chapel Hill, NC, next to her eldest son Wade, who tragically died in a car accident in 1996.

Did she really say she wanted his kids to call her mommy? She is sick! Plus, John never did stop screwing around and still screws around. Good Luck woman. And what a sick dad to bring his kids to meet his mistress three weeks after her death. Gawd, even Prince Charles had a head on shoulders regarding that issue. John is a sick, horrible man who is selfish in every way!

John Edwards asked her to marry him years ago! People seem to have short memories. Remember his plans to have a famous band perform at the wedding? If his wife had not been diagnosed with terminal cancer he would have divorced her long ago and married whatsherface. She knew after she had their daughter he was going to marry her. It wasn’t ‘if’ but ‘when.’ This marriage does not stand a chance to succeed because it was built on a foundation of lies and deceit and a great deal of pain. They deserve each other.

Betty Botox. I agree that he did ask her to marry him a long time ago but I disagree that this marriage will not work. Look, they still have a “life” right up to the present day and as far as deceit—she doesn’t care about him having another “piece on the side” as long as she get the money, house and fame. I don’t believe that Elizabeth’s children will ever call her “Mom” or even want to live with her. Rumor now has it that oldest daughter Cate has already started legal proceeding outlineing the three children’s rules for John. Jake is having the hardest time and doesn’t want to be alone with his father at the present time. No matter what John does now, his children will lose respect for him [although I don't know if that will actually bother him as long as he remains so selfish]. If you have ever met him, you will see that he is very self centered.
