Rooney stole the lead in ’The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’ from under K-Stew’s nose! Does she pull off the tough look better, too?
Although Kristen Stewart was up for the role of a lifetime in the highly-anticipated movie The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, the job went to relative unknown Rooney Mara. With the first pictures of a punked-out, in-character Rooney, 25, showing up in W magazine, it’s hard not to think about how Kristen, 20, would have fit in the role. She has experience walking on the wild side, losing much of her glam while playing Joan Jett in 2010′s The Runaways. Vote now for your favorite girl gone punk!

Rooney looks like a hardcore punk with psychological issues. So she definitely wins! They did a good job of making her up for the part. She went from pretty to…this. I don’t think American remakes of these movies are necessary (Hollywood just wants to cash in on the franchise, like they do with everything that’s popular), but the results will be interesting. I’m glad KStew wasn’t cast in this role. That would have ruined it for me. She may have a natural lesbian/tomboy look about her, but that does not make an actress.

You can’t compare Kristen Stewart To someone like Rooney Mara. Rooney is a great actress and she has the great potential to become an A-lister.

By the way the article above is wrong. Rooney did not steal the lead from Kristen. There was a clear time conflict with The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and Breaking Dawn filming at the same time. Kristen was never in the running, that’s just tabloid fodder.

Rooney is a good actress. Once she signed on to play the roll the producers and the directors took over and dressed her as they saw fit. She had no choice in the matter. I agree Rooney is a pretty girl and they made her look like a freek but it’s not her fault. I won’t pass judgement until I see the results which is only fair. I seem to remember Rob Pattinson saying that the blogs went crazy with negativity when he was cast as Edward Cullen and we all know how that turned out. So cool your jets everyone and give the girl a chance to show you what she can do.

rooney looks lame, she’s dressed like a cartoon character. You can’t attempt to reprise Noomi’s role looking like a clown. Why didn’t they pick someone more bad azz in attitude, she looks like she’d easily get spooked.

Kristen’s a natural punk. She is hot!
Rooney is acting it. She reminds me of a boy more.

I’m glad Kristen didn’t get the role, some of the scenes in the book are disgusting. I hope Kristen mixes things up with a happier type of movie. She seems funny and sweet, so many a romantic comedy.

Kristen is for sure the biggest bad ass here, she has no tats no piercings but she has her look and attitude, it is all about the attitude and Kristen has the best for this. She is a natural.

Rooney doesn’t have the edge to pull this role off – huge mistake in hiring her. I no longer want to see the movie. The role should have gone to Kristen – she has the ability to totally lose herself in the role and become the character she plays. Rooney looks like she is trying so hard but just doesn’t succeed.

eyeroll. David Fincher is gonna eff this up, it’s so obvious. Rooney looks ridiculous, there’s nothing edgey or scary about her, her tats look fake, her hair looks too premeditated, even the pose is candy azz. I’m sticking with the original movies, this looks ridiculous.

Well, it’s two different styles really and attitudes. But I would say that Rooney is trying to hard-well not her so much as the production. She looks like an extra from futuristic B movie, it looks way too glossy to be actual punk as “phunk” attitude if you know what I mean. She looks like a poser.

you know what? remaking girl/tattoo was a misstake. Rooney’s version pales in comparison to the noomi’s by far, it looked organize on noomi and poor rooney looks she’s overstyled to be hoenst. It’s not her fault, just you can tell americanizing the series is already taking a lot of edge off the material.
