Terry wants Jaden and Willow to know that she’s sorry for calling them ‘pimped & exploited.’ But does Terry have a point when she says these kids are too young for careers in Hollywood?

Best-selling author Terry McMillan apologizes for bashing Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith‘s kids—son Jaden, 12, and daughter Willow, 10. “I apologize for using the word pimp and exploit in referring to the Smith children,” Terry tweeted on Jan. 27. “It was insensitive of me and wrong.”

Willow Smith debuts a clip of her new single, ’21st Century Girl!’

Just the day before, on Jan. 26, Terry called the kids out for basically being childhood fame-chasers. “The Smith children already act like child stars,” she said. “There’s an arrogance in their demeanor and behavior. I find it incredibly sad. It feels like the Smith children are being pimped and exploited. Or, they’re already hungry for fame. What about 4th grade?”

Terry even compared the kids to Lindsay Lohan! “A lot of A-list movie stars shielded their children from the Hollywood-world until they were old enough to decide. Look at those who didn’t,” Terry said. “Look at Lindsay. Phoenix. To name but a few. They miss out on childhood. It’s more important than fame.”

Willow is going to remake her dad’s ‘Parent’s Just Don’t Understand?’

But after receiving such negative feedback with regards to her harsh comments, Terry decided to retract her statements. The comments about the Smith children have even been removed from her Twitter page as of Jan. 28.

But HollyMoms, did Terry have a point when she called-out Will and Jada for allowing their young children to pursue fame-driven careers at such early ages? Jaden has starred in the big-screen flick, The Karate Kid alongside Jackie Chan, while his sister Willow has already had a hit single, “Whip My Hair,” and has even signed a record deal with Jay-Z!

Willow Smith is going to star in a remake of ‘Annie?’

HollyMoms, do you think it was wrong of Will and Jada to encourage their kids to pursue Hollywood careers at such a young age? Vote below!

Its ok for them to start young but it up to the adults to keep them young and focused. Willow seems to be a comedian like her dad i think they are a beautiful family, Will and Jada please be parents not their friend and they will go along way God Bless u all

Poor Willow said herself that she don’t even know her time-tables in an interview. If a child is in this situation shouldn’t a tutor be available to teach them. EDUCATION is always the best option in any situation. Money and fame is wonderful but not without an EDUCATION!!

@Missgoody2shoes: She’s not “up in their business,” they’re putting their business out there for the world to see and they’re being judged as parents accordingly. They’re no better than the unfamous “civilian” stage parents who do the same thing, only they have the money and connections to “create” work in the industry for their kids. McMillan has a point and she has a right to express it. (BTW, “STFU” is soooo classy.)

I think those kids are way too young to “make” these kinds of decisions and they are, in fact, missing out on their childhoods. Because Willow said in an interview only a few weeks ago that she wanted to play with her friends, but she “had to work.” What effing 10-year-old says that?

Why are some people all in other folks business when it comes to raising kids? Terry McMillian does not have any children and should STFU!

I just feel children are young for such a short time & they are missing out on one of the greatest times of ones life ( innocence). They have the rest of thier lives to become famous. Jada & Will can make it happen now or later. They were famous before they started working, they are the children of Will & Jada Smith “Come On”
