Claire Danes wants to clear up the misconceptions about autism. “It’s funny, most people think autistic people aren’t capable of empathy,” 31-year-old Temple Grandin actress said last night (Jan. 30) at the 2011 Screen Actors Guild Awards in LA. “I can’t think of a more empathic person than Temple Grandin,” explains Claire, whose award wining role was based on the real life Temple — an autistic woman renowned for her work in the humane livestock handling industry. “She’s really dedicated her life to representing those who are unrepresented. While we saw some glam gowns at the 2011 SAG Awards on Jan. 30, we also saw some looks we weren’t very fond of! Personally, I thought both Angie Harmon and Winona Rider looked like they came from an audition to star in the Disney princess parade — their pale pink ball gowns weren’t appropriate at all! I don’t think anyone over the age of 14 should be wearing the pink feathered Monique Lhuillier on Angie or the Alberta Ferretti Winona turned up in — not to mention the fact that the latter opted for a black bag that totally clashed!
