I know, I know. The fact that Lady Gaga’s new single ‘Born This Way’ sounds EXACTLY like Madonna’s ‘Express Yourself’ has been discussed up the wazoo.
But honestly, the I-Vant-to-be-Madonna-moves didn’t end there. What about that blonde ponytail up-do and the ultra- toned abs a la Madonna at last night’s Grammy performance? Lady Gaga, you didn’t have those tight abs when you went to the Yankees ball game, in nothing but a leather bra and panties on June 18, 2010. You’ve clearly been working out mighty hard to challenge the original scene queen.
So either last night’s Grammy performance of ‘Born This Way‘, is a complete and utter Madonna homage or a complete and utter rip-off!
Let me add, Gaga you’ve been borrowing from Madonna for years. Cone bras, black corsets, fishnets, sparkly breast plates – have all been pioneered by Madonna and replicated by you.
I don’t understand why someone as talented as you Gaga needs to be a Madonna mirror. Or if you want to be, at least acknowledge what you’re up to – instead of hiding in an egg!

This isn’t true to be honest I think there are some artists out there copying all the time and getting away with it. I think that that this should stop, there are lots of similarities between Marilyn Monroe and Madonna but that wasn’t mentioned every second of her career. Stuff like this could destroy an artists career. Gaga FTW!

what people need to understand is that if you go back through madonnas photoshoots and videos many of her most iconic images are almost exact replicas of images from old hollywood. just google it so if lady gaga is copying madonna then madonna copied all of old holly wood and if you search around the people that madonna ripped off do not appreciate it at all

Oh wow…did they really just go there? Let me just say, ever female singer now a days shows her abs and it’s not like Madonna invented it. Another thing, in every photo they show Gaga looks different then Madonna. If it’s not the exact look then it flys, isn’t that right Madonna? Maybe we should invite Ziggy into this little ‘fight’.

Although Madonna is classic 80s/90s, i frankly think that Lady Gaga is FAR more talented. She even writes her music, Madonna only wrote lyrics. And secondly, one of the pictures at the top says “Same cone bra” when CLEARLY Lady Gaga’s is on fire. Even Madonna can’t take credit for that. Lady Gaga just vamps up Madonna’s look. I honestly don’t give a damn if Lady Gaga is copying off of Madonna, cuz i like Lady Gaga more. And it doesn’t really matter if you or anybody else complains that she is just a copy-cat, cuz the fact-of the matter is that if Madonna doesn’t complain, Lady Gaga can do whatever the hell she wants. Why the hell do people care whose ripping off who? If the song is good than that’s all that should matter. People copy off each other all the time. And guess what? It exactly optional. If an artist wants to keep making music, they HAVE to copy off of someone because eventually there won’t be any original music left to use.
Secondly, Lady Gaga is WAY better than Madonna. She has a better voice and has better songs.
People need to stop being so judgemental.

While she may be copying Madonna, Madonna had to copy someone, too, even if most people don’t want to hear that. She didn’t come up with black corsets, sparkly breast plates, invent fishnets, invent funky 90s music or that pink dress copied from the one originally worn by Marilyn Monroe (all of which the author lists as if she believes Madonna created it all and it never existed or was known before). Everyone borrows/copies from everyone.
Everyone needs to let it go. I mean, we all copy. You can’t help it since this generation nor the one before nor the one before was the first. Nothing we do is original. So, unless Madonna herself calls Gaga out (which I haven’t heard her do yet), I don’t see why everyone else is so up-in-arms about it. Madonna, I’m sure we all know, can take care of herself and defend her style and image. If she believes someone is stealing it, and if she really even cares at this point, she will say/do something about it.

She is copy-catting, but at the end of the day she’s far more talented than the person she’s ripping off. Gaga’s voice blows Madonna’s out of the water. Madonna is a thousand years old. She had a good run. But she is well past the age where she should have her stomach out and be writhing around singing songs about getting banged.

Most everyone who adores GaGa (just the name makes me GagGag!) were too young to know Madonna who btw was TOTALLY original! Ok, I admit the song does sound like Express yourself but who cares? Artist do this all the time and most of us dont notice it. She is just a big artist so of course what she does gets more notice. If madonna is fine with it, then there’s no prob. Now calling Gaga a madonna wannabe based on this ONE song is bullsh*t. Like her or not Gaga is doing things that Madonna would have never thought of and she deserves credit for being original. Just cause she wears corsets and breast plates does not make her a ripoff unless I am wrong and Madonna totally invented these items. Lets see, Madonna didnt wear Kermit dresses, metal outfits, plastic dresses and oh I can go on and on. So how does her wearing corsets and such make her a ripoff?
