Insider: Miley Told Her Dad Going On TV Would Ruin Their Relationship & He Listened! Exclusive

A source tells HollywoodLife.com what REALLY went down between Miley and Billy Ray Cyrus when he canceled his upcoming appearance on The View! Since his tell all interview in GQ magazine, relations between Billy Ray Cyrus and his daughter, Miley, have been strained, to say the least. Nevertheless, an insider tells HollywoodLife.com Miley, 18, didn't force her dad to cancel his upcoming appearance on The View, she simply pleaded her case and explained her rationale for not wanting him to dish about her private life on national TV. Can you blame her?

“Miley was reasoning with her Dad. She kept telling him it would be a bad idea because the ladies of The View would grill him the whole time,” our source says. “Plus, the show’s live, so he could easily say something he didn’t mean to say, which would only upset Miley more. Basically, Miley brought her concerns up and Billy Ray accepted it.”

Even if Miley reasoned with Billy Ray in order to get him to cancel his appearance, her recent lack of character in regard to her parents is typical of a child star, says media psychiatrist and bestselling author Dr. Carole Lieberman, M.D..

“On one hand, a child star’s parents want her to become a star, and do what they can to make that happen — but then the child begins to resent it because she realizes the family is dependent on her for the fame and fortune she brings them,” Dr. Lieberman explains.

She adds, “The child can no longer be a child and no longer is able to feel as though she is loved for herself. Instead she feels her parents love her because of what she brings to them.”

Miley has been spiraling out of control for awhile, but Dr. Lieberman says there’s still hope for Billy Ray to reign in the monster he’s created.

“I would tell him to start acting like a parent. He needs to take the reigns back,” she says. “Miley is 18 going on 45, but she still needs him. Regardless of what she says and does, she really is urning for him to be the parent again. She’s urning to be stopped and to be taken care of.”

Do you think Miley should respect her dad even after all he said in his latest magazine interview? Was is inappropriate for Miley to ask her dad to cancel his TV appearance, or did she have every right? Sound off below!
