Vanessa Hudgens Says Zac Efron Kept Her ‘Head On Straight’ — Can She Stay Grounded Without Him?
Vanessa’s ex-boyfriend helped her survive young stardom — can she transition into adulthood without her man?
Vanessa Hudgens broke up with her longtime boyfriend Zac Efron in Dec. 2010, but admits in a new interview that much of her personal success is a result of his strength!
Although Vanessa, 22, says she’s just “friends” with Zac, it is obvious from her March 3 interview with USA Today that Zac, 23, helped guide her through the perils of Hollywood.
“A lot of people may get lost in the lights and glamour of it all. It should be about the work first and everything else later,” Vanessa says. She credits her family to keeping her grounded, but even more important was the support of her High School Musical castmates.
“I also had (HSM co-stars) to grow with, like Ashley (Tisdale) and Zac. We all went on this journey together and had each other to fall back on. You’ve got to have your friends to keep your head on straight,” she says.
As Vanessa gets a higher profile with huge spring movies such as Beastly and Sucker Punch, will she be able to stay grounded without the support of her man?

She obviously kept Zac grounded..look at him now. She is better off without him. Her Beastly movie has done well..better than expected and she has another high profile movie out in a few weeks. She seems liberated, spirited and gets more beautiful everyday. Zac may still have celebrity but his career is slowly circling the drain. It will be interesting to see if he crashes and burns.

Beide sind tolle Schauspieler und haben, da sie noch sehr jung sind, noch sehr viel Potenzial. Es ist schade dass Vanessa immer nur als wunderschöne Freundin von Zac in den Medien genannt wurde. Das hat sicher einiges bewirkt. Im Moment glaube ich, hält Zac sich an Vanessas Wunsch und er gönnt ihr von Herzen ihren Erfolg. Das hat man auch bei der Aufführung von “Rent” gesehen, er war sehr stolz auf Vanessa.

It is obvious that she kept Zac grounded. Look at him now. He’s become everything he claimed he wasn’t. His “Details” interview has become a self-fulfilling prophecy. The gossipmongers will have a field day with all of the speculation on his private life. Hope his career doesn’t crash and burn in the process. Vanessa is better off without him and his baggage. She looks happy and liberated. Beastly is doing well she has another high profile movie coming up. She looks more beautiful and spirited with every passing day. I really feel the best is yet to come for her. As for Zac…I used to be a fan and supporter. Now I really don’t care anymore.

Ireally think that zac and vanessa are meant to be together. I don’t understand how you can with someone all those years and then the love is gone. They need to step back again look at how much they love each other. They need to get off their high horses and figure out what they want, but until thT HAPPENS me and my friends are not gonna watch any movies with them in it tll they get back together. I love zanessa together.

This would almost be funny if it were actually true when in reality he bats for both teams he was with his boy toy today all day my brother. Vanessa only crime was she was innocent and unaware of it and he was looking for a way out why not use the excuse to go on a break for a little while which led to the full break up. My brother is dark haired and tall looks good he is in it for the $. Never boring in Hollywood.

If that is true I hope the paparazzi get the pictures one day I do not understand why actors keep that a secret look at Neil Patrick Harris he plays the best womanizer I have seen and he is openly gay why by ashamed of who you are? I am sure Zac would not lose any fans if he came out he liked both girls and boys. In time he will get caught they always do. Ricky Martin eventually came out he used to be a Zac Efron back in the day.

I think she kept him grounded, too. Since they broke up he’s the one who’s been bar hopping, binge drinking, grinding with a nobody actress and making out with her in a bar. I think he’s lost his way and needs somebody to bring him back down to earth. He’s the one who got way too caught up in his celebrity status and is trying to market himself as a player and womanizer. I just hope he doesn’t crash and burn. Hope his family can help him get his head back on straight.

You are ignorant a lot of people drink a thing of beer when they get a tattoo even though they shouldn’t because it thins your blood and you can bleed more. Where she got it it is very painful. She does not party and go out like crazy like he does she should be allowed to have a few nights of fun after all the crazy talk she has to put up from people like you. You’re only young once.

Is this article written by a man or something? Or Gina who is half man/half woman? Any woman does not have to have a man to keep her head straight. Do you guys not read well, or is your dictionary broken? Seriously come on now a monkey could have typed a better story then this. She is doing very well without Zac Efron at her side it is not like she was paid attention to when he was around it was always fans screaming for him now she can work on what she wants to and make her life her own worry instead of taking a step back to him. Beastly is doing very well better then his did opening weekend in ratings I guess she did not need Zac as much as people thought. For you below Zac and Vanessa are not back together stop living in a land of make believe you will not catch them two together because they do not see each other if you want to see Zac just hang out at Ryans house and watch them two go to Melrose for drinks paparazzi that Vanessa sticks with her family and friends she knows her every move is being watched. Yes I do and he is the one who dumped her she is better off he cares about himself then he does anyone else. He is nice to fans because he needs your money and support. Vanessa is better off I hope she enjoys the single life and finds a man who can appreciate her she is a very nice person who deserved better. Watch what he does next. I am glad Vanessa did better then Charlie St. Cloud CBS should have had more faith in her. Wonder if Zac is calling Ryan right now for his midnight hook ups the life of a single man time to bathe in it.

Lilly how do you know who knows Zac or Vanessa? I am sure there are some people out there who know them both and have to post anonymously because people like you spend all day dissecting what they wear and say to make it appear they are still together when they have stated they are not. Gina has stated they are not. Brittany Snow has stated they are not. Vanessa has in her own way stated they are not. When are you all going to accept reality? You do not know if that girl knows them or not. There is a lot more going on with their break up then anyone knows maybe he was a troll to her and people who know them are fed up.
