Is Taylor throwing out the relationship rule book by now ex-flame Cory Monteith’s co-star, Chord Overstreet?

There are just some things a good girl does not do, and that includes dating guys who are friends! So why is Taylor Swift cozying up to Chord Overstreet when she dated his Glee co-star Cory Monteith just one year ago? Is this ever OK?

Here’s the thing: while Cory and Chord may be co-workers and casual acquaintances, they aren’t best buddies. In fact, it’s rare for the two to ever hang out off-set, unlike Chord, who hang out with Mark Salling pretty much nonstop.

Also, it wasn’t like Taylor and Cory were ever all that serious. They had a casual flirtation, perhaps went on a few dates. They liked one another in a very PG-rated way. In addition to their blink-and-you’ll-miss-it-romance, it’s been a year since the two put a halt to their brief love affair. Enough time has gone by that neither Cory nor Taylor should feel much of anything for the other.

Although it was the country cutie who reportedly initiated this new relationship, it would be in Chord’s best interest to approach Cory and make 100% sure that he was over his ex. They do have to work together, after all.

But should you ever date from the same friend pool of guys? Chances are that if you do, you’re going to get a reputation, so I’d be careful. Make sure you really, really like a guy — and that the feeling is reciprocated (re: not just a quickie hookup once in a while) before you go there.

The worst thing you can do is turn two pals against one another. It’s a safe bet that they will be friends again one day, and they’re both going to resent the hell out of you!
